Did anyone see that train wreck that passed for a TV special last night? She claimed she was bringing back prime-time variety shows but the "big Names" promised turned out to be Barry Manilow's wig and Sheryl Crow singing a song so bad it would have been cut from "Legally Blonde."
She filled 90 minutes with trick bartenders, hula hoop girls, Chinese acrobats and quick change artists. When the "acts" were on, you'd beg for them to stop and then she'd come on to do some "humor" and you'd say "bring back the magician!" If her writers wrote her banter by the way, she should be glad they went on strike.
It was the worst 90 minutes of TV since the "very special" season finale of "My Mother The Car."

Posted: 11/20/07 at 1:19pmIt was hardly a variety special. More like a televised poorly performed Vegas routine...not suprisingly. I didn't like any of it and found it very boring.

Posted: 11/20/07 at 1:25pmI could only take about a half hour and then I turned it off. It looked like a small town amateur night show. She's probably been praised for bringing one or two of these acts on her day time show every now and then. Putting them all together on prime time was a major mistake.
A click for life.

It aired on tbs! I think that's reason enough to know it wasn't going to be amazing.
I watched it after it aired (DVR) and I thought the acrobats were the best part. The rest was pretty lousy.

Posted: 11/20/07 at 2:23pmShe said in interviews that this was her attempt to recreate the best parts of the Carol Burnett Show. Carol Burnett has said "Take that back, or I'll give you something to cry about!"

I only saw about 15 minutes of it. But this show looked like a waste of money and time.

Posted: 11/20/07 at 9:09pmI recorded this and fast forwarded through most of it. So bad. I hope it doesn't happen again.

So was this ALSO required of her by her contract, or was this just an outright slap in the face to her fellow WGA members?
