Wow, that video was really awful. At least some people there had a little sense.
I'm a Religion/Anthropology/Middle Eastern Studies major, so my focus has been a lot on Muslim/Arab/Middle Eastern issues. Chances are, if I witnessed discrimination like that, I would tell that person what-for and give them a long lecture about how flawed their "logic" is. I'm a really shy person, but things like that cause me to be quite verbal, to say the least.

I'd have a hard time defending a Muslim, the same as I would a Christian, Jew, etc.
If you choose to be religious, I guess you gotta take one for the team. In the end, God will reward you and condemn me to eternal hellfire, so I guess it all works out.

I wouldn't like to see anyone being discriminated against, whether I agree with their choice or not. C'mon, if you're in the workplace, and one of your co-workers is consistently being given rubbish tasks to do, and you know for a fact it's because the supervisor is prejudiced against them for religious reasons, and it's not because they're an eejit who deserves to do the rubbish jobs all the time, you wouldn't say anything? Even if the discriminatee is a really nice guy who can't help being Muslim and the supervisor is kindof an ass? That's pretty sad.

I wouldn't ASSUME that because someone was getting sh*t jobs because of their religion. It seems you're making a lot of assumptions about this hypothetical situation that doesn't even exist.
I've stood up for people based on racial prejudice, gender prejudice, etc. I've always been the first one to admit to my prejudices and work on them.
If the "supervisor" made a discriminatory comment about a Muslim, I certainly wouldn't let it pass, but I wouldn't defend a Muslim any more or any less than if they made the comment about a Xtian or Jew. To me, it's all the same, so I'm not going to let my ass pucker more over ONE and not the other.
Not sad, just a different P.O.V.

My hypothetical situation involves knowing that the person is being discriminated against unfairly, which I thought was implicit from the title of tone of the thread. Your specific post I replied to seemed to be a blanket "hell noes!", regardless of situation.

I never said I wouldn't defend the target of religious discrimination. I said I've have a hard time.
Since I am not a follower of any religion, I find it moronic that those who do choose to follow a particular religion can hate people who choose to follow a different one.
I don't know a lot of fellow atheists or agnostics who would discriminate against a Muslim for simply being Muslim. I know some who would discriminate against a person for being religious period.

While I disagree with your belief in gigantic miracluous humanoid beings in the sky, I would defend to the death your right to believe it.
