What would you do if you personally saw a Muslim being discriminated against?

same thing i did on september 19th, 2001 when the nycboe in its infinite wisdom tranferred into my 7th grade homeroom - in spanish harlem - a child with the name abdullah islam who arrived in the classroom wearing salwar kamaeez. strongly reprimand the first child who made a disparaging remark and then lecture for a while about cultural differences and how hurtful language can be with examples from the way african americans and other ethnic minorities in america have been treated. then engage the students in a discussion where they shared stories about times that they themselves had been discriminated against. finally asked abdullah to share some of his history with us and allowed the students to ask him questions. once they found out he was a yankees fan and a huge knicks fan the racial and religious talk was replaced by arguments over baseball and basketball.

Agreed Joe.
But what if you see a Yankees fan discriminated against? Then I would say violence is acceptable.

nah, joe i only lasted seven months in the classroom. i was not willing to go along to get along and quietly watch the school completely and utterly mismanaged. maybe if i'd have been in another school things might have turned out different. but at that time it was not the right place or the right time and i was soon back in the loving arms of broadway, which just six short years later left me sitting alone by the side of the road.

Good story Papa. Politics aside, I tip my hat to you.

Sadly, you could get the same kind of response in different parts of the country to a wide variety of 'differences'.

I was about to make the same point, DG. Simple insert *any minority group* where it says muslim.

Not all, Joe. But some.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

I would say, "Careful, that Muslim is your next president."
Remember when it used to be spelled Moslem? When did it change?

I would hope any of us would do something if anyone was being discriminated against.
I have a friend who started covering her hair about a year ago. She's twice been verbally attacked. Once it was by a cross-dresser who yelled at her in a parking lot that she and everyone like her should be killed. (You'd think a cross-dresser would understand the need to follow your own path). Just a few days ago, she got it again at work from a loyal customer who is now no longer welcome.
Very, very sad indeed. Just the other day, a gay man in my city was attacked as well.
So again, I hope we'd all stand up for anyone being discriminated against no matter how we disagree with how they look or believe. We're all people on the outside.

"Better than a moron being the current President."
I read that as "Better than a MORMON being the current President."
Both are true

Both are true

With a stone clutched in his hand
He was only a boy
But he knew someone must take a stand
There will always be a valley
Always mountains one must scale
There will always be perilous waters
Which someone must sail
