This article from salon.com just in time for the "Brit Box" truly brought a tear to my eye. Denizens of the eighties, enjoy. When will the Brits dominate the charts with their androgynous magic again?

And don't give me that "We have Robbie Williams" crap!
Whatever happened to Britpop

It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

I was really into all those bands when they were big in the UK (well it was closer to the late 80s and early 90s when I was interested in them). I used to read Q religously.
I have most of those band's cds.

Robbie is proof the America never got it and never embraced the Britpop movement. He is the biggest star in the world- everywhere but here.

That Brit Box looks great- if I didn't already have mountains of those CDs. It makes me heartsick for the glory days of the creative packaging, though!

I was truly saddened that Steps never made it big in the US in the late 90s/early 00s. They were far superior to any of the American boy bands at the time. One of my all-time favorite pop groups. Boyzone, Atomic Kitten, Hear'Say and S Club 7 were all huge in the UK around the same time as Steps. For my bubblegum pop fix, I focused on the UK for several years as there was nothing as interesting happening in the US. Some fun pop solo singles here and there, but nothing consistently fun.

But the Spice Girls are coming back...
