"I'm a little curious as to why this is something that people would consider desirable."
For a horror audiences, it means that the filmmakers have done something right.
Is Dana Baron in that?
She was also in Vacation. Great girl. We went to school together.

When a stranger calls, whatever you do, don't hang up if the voice is sexy.
Huh?
What?
What!!
Oh. This isn't a request for advice?
Oops.
How about remaking it with PAris Hilton to insure it being awful?
Camilla Belle has been cast as the lead in Screen Gems' remake of "When a Stranger Calls," to be directed by Simon West.
Shooting is skedded for mid-July.
Jake Wade Wall penned the remake of the 1979 Columbia Pictures cult horror pic, which starred Carol Kane as a high school student traumatized while babysitting by a caller who repeatedly asks, "Have you checked the children lately?" After notifying the police, she is told that the calls are coming from inside the house.
Belle will star in the role played by Kane.
Davis Entertainment's John Davis and Wyck Godfrey are producing with Ken Lemberger.
Belle stars opposite Daniel Day-Lewis in IFC's "The Ballad of Jack and Rose." She also stars in Ari Posin's "The Chumscrubber," with Glenn Close and Ralph Fiennes, which preemed at Sundance this year. Thesp just wrapped "The Quiet," an indie also starring Elisha Cuthbert and Edie Falco.
Black Christmas is actually scarier than "When A Stranger Calls".
Yay! Belle was awesome in "...Jack and Rose".
Casting her is a step in the right direction. Simon West as the director on the other hand...
What they need to do is just make it well constructed and scary. No need for all the modern effects of most horror movies lately. Just get back to the roots of horror and what's really scary to people.
I just hope that the opening sequence can at least live up to the original. It's a tough act to follow.
