I can't seem to find a date...Anyone?

I hate the fact that they moved the ceremony back to March. March always seems so far away after the SAG Awards, which is the last award show of the season before the big night.
They used to be held in April...
They didn't want to compete with the Winter Olympics.
And, I have heard they may be moving them back to the last Sunday in March as soon as next year?
Exactly, Jerby. Although I hadn't heard about the late March move. I thought they were happy with the end of February.
Oscar and the Olympics were headed for a scheduling clash, and Oscar blinked first.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Thursday said the 2006 edition of Hollywood’s highest honors would be moved back by one week to Sunday, March 5, to avoid a conflict with the 2006 Winter Olympics.
With that date, the 78th annual Academy Awards will now fall one week later in the calendar than the Oscar telecasts for 2004 and 2005.
The closing ceremonies of the upcoming Winter Games in Turin, Italy, were already slated to wrap up on the Academy Awards’ “natural” 2006 date of Sunday, Feb. 26., Academy President Frank Pierson said in a statement.
“It didn’t seem fair to make (TV) viewers have to choose between these two special events,” he said. The Olympics and the Oscars both rank among U.S. television’s highest-rated broadcasts.
The Oscars, which had long been held in late March, were moved up a month to the last Sunday of February starting in 2004 for what originally was characterized as a two-year experiment. The upcoming 77th Academy Awards are set for Sunday, Feb. 27, airing live on ABC from the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
Pierson said the Academy was satisfied with its new awards schedule and that late-February broadcasts of the Oscars would resume in 2007.
Well, I hope they stay at the end of February! One less month to wait.

Savvy appraisal of the nominees. I bet you're 100% right.
I would be very surprised to see Joan Allen or Amy Adams nominated.
I would be very surprised to see Joan Allen or Amy Adams nominated.
If the Academy has any taste at all, they will be.
I think Amy Adams has a better chance than Joan Allen...I wouldn't be too surprised to see an Amy Adams nod.
That's EXACTLY why I would be surprised, 86.
I think Frances McDormand and Scarlett Johansson have better chances of scoring a Best Supp. Actress nod than Amy Adams, but anything's possible -- there's usually a few surprise nods that are thrown in, often in the supporting categories.
That's EXACTLY why I would be surprised, 86.
Good point. I was watching Junebug yesterday, and I'm telling you... Her performance is really something special. She's sweet and she's funny, but the complexity really sneaks up on you.
