Good morning all.

That pic made me feel like summer--and lo and behold on the radio comes Seals and Crofts singing "Summer Breeze." I kid you not. Addy is magic. :o)

What a great song... I haven't heard that song in years!

I'm a love song frame of mind at the moment...

They just played "If" a few minutes ago...and
now it's "Isn't She Lovely"--which I always connected with Princess Diana. She and Charles danced to it when they were first engaged.

It's so true that we have such strong memories associated with songs.

"If". I loved Bread. I haven't listened to them in ages...

“It's all I have to bring to-day,
This, and my heart beside,
This, and my heart, and all the fields,
And all the meadows wide.
Be sure you count, should I forget, --
Someone the sum could tell, --
This, and my heart, and all the bees
Which in the clover dwell.”
- Emily Dickinson

The most fabulous attribute of our little world in cyberspace is that time and space have no meaning. So, despite whatever it is that my Valentine has chosen for herself today, I hope she can tuck this somewhere in the corner of her mind, as an alternative to what is – perhaps the way life SHOULD be!

I would, of course, awaken her at dawn, creeping softly into her room and silently pulling back the drapes from her canopied bed. After setting down the silver tray with her favorite coffee and a single pink rose bud (signifying the day yet to bloom,) I would open the shutters to reveal the encroaching light into the piazza below. With Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 playing softly in the background (no particular reason, it’s just my favorite) I would allow her the chance to awaken into the day on the schedule that she desired.

When at last she is ready to head out the front door, I think we’d have to have a little breakfast in the piazza below – which is probably in Florence. I only say this because, I do think a stroll to look at the public art would be a nice way to keep things in balance for the day.

Once sated, we would quickly off to Milan, for there would be a need for two new outfits – day and evening attire. As we’re soon to be setting off for Torino, the first would be smart outdoor wear involving a hat and gloves (perhaps a muff?) – pink, of course. The intention is to traverse the athletes’ village by sled, so comfort in the brisk mountain air is a must. The second outfit is for the evening to come, which will be unveiled momentarily.

Once the shopping is complete, and before the full blush of excitement wears off, we arrive in Torino. Not to take in any of the events – TIVO exists for a reason – but to ride through and talk to the athletes, to get a real glimpse into the experience through their eyes.

After this exhilaration, we would have to find ourselves on a tropical beach – I’m thinking Bali. This would allow for the sun to burn through the chilled mountain air, and for some beautiful half-naked men to bring us much-needed afternoon refreshments.

Then it’s into a private jet for a flight to Paris. This will also allow for a little time of rest, which ends with awakening in France. There would, of course, be time to prepare for the evening – a gold gown in tribute to the Olympic winners, and jewels to accent the ensemble (sapphire’s sparkle a lot, don’t’ they?) The evening starts with an outing at the Paris Opera. There will be no tragedy tonight at the opera – for this will be Puccini’s “Girl of the Golden West”, which ends with the ‘girl’ finding romance and heading off into her future of hope.

After the opera, it only makes sense to stroll along the Seine, and take in the lights and sounds of the City of Love. We would end up back at the hotel, where there would be a bath drawn with floating rose petals and candlelight, champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries, and then the requisite tucking in and kiss on the forehead.

I know this isn’t the stereotypical ‘romantic’ Valentine, but it is this –

In honor of a pure and gentle heart.

In honor of a fellow survivor.

In honor of a caregiver for the world, who moves from the general to the particular, and gives a light to my own special journey.

Ultimately, it’s just a gesture from one person to another – that someone cares, that someone understands, that someone is grateful. In the end, that may be all that matters.

I am humbled to share my feelings of love celebration with someone who embodies what I think the world needs more of.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Dearest Addy – may you know on this day, as well as all the others, that you are worthy and oh so deserving of all that love has to offer.

I am speechless. And humbled. And honored.

DG, the only thing I can say to you is thank you.
Happy Valentine's Day to you, too.
To a fellow survivor.
To someone who has the capacity for such love.
I am overwhelmed...
It's all beautiful.

Addy Sighting

So what am I so afraid of?
I'm afraid that I'm not sure of
A love there is no cure for
I think I love you
Isn't that what life is made of?
Though it worries me to say
I've never felt this way

Believe me
You really don't have to worry
I only want to make you happy
And if you say,
hey, go away, I will
But I think better still
I ought to stay around and love you
Do you think I have a case?
Let me ask you to your face:
Do you think you love me?
I think I love you!

oh, DG! You are too sweet for words.

Last year on Valentine's Day I was in the depths of heartbreak. This year I am surrounded by so much love and friendship I am simply overwhelmed.

Thank you.
