Posted: 12/12/05 at 9:46amDoes anyone have any recommendations? Union Square Cafe' is all booked up, but I'd rather find a fine dining gem anyway. Not something that's all over Zagats like jasmine on rice.

That is my favorite dish there. It's delicious.

I will give a *resounding* second to Blue Water.
You will DIE, it's so fabulous. (And they make one CRAZY good dirty martini!)

I am now convinced one should always wander down just a tad, to the Cooper Union area, to eat there. Scads of good restaurants.

City Crab- Fantastic shrimp cocktail and affordable.
Blue Water Grill is another favorite. I like the Jazz Brunch on Sunday.

Posted: 12/12/05 at 12:49pmMy fave down there is 'El Cantinero' - a real hole in the wall (it is on University and 11th), but awesome Mexican food. Was there last night again, actually.
