Does anyone have any recommendations? Union Square Cafe' is all booked up, but I'd rather find a fine dining gem anyway. Not something that's all over Zagats like jasmine on rice.

Blue Water Grill looks fun... I'm excited about the concept of Lobster with Pumpkin Rav. :)

That is my favorite dish there. It's delicious.

I will give a *resounding* second to Blue Water.

You will DIE, it's so fabulous. (And they make one CRAZY good dirty martini!)

Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you. Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

A splurge but Tocqueville at 15th and Union Square West is a remember-for the-rest-of-your-life meal.

Tocqueville is indeed divine. Just make sure you mortgage your house before going...re: Where to dine in the Chelsea/Union Square Area on a Friday Night

I am now convinced one should always wander down just a tad, to the Cooper Union area, to eat there. Scads of good restaurants.

Whatever made you think that, bway?

City Crab- Fantastic shrimp cocktail and affordable.
Blue Water Grill is another favorite. I like the Jazz Brunch on Sunday.

My fave down there is 'El Cantinero' - a real hole in the wall (it is on University and 11th), but awesome Mexican food. Was there last night again, actually.
