Where to get a good cheese blintz in NYC

I'm going to NYC next month, and am dying for a good cheese blintz! Where is the best place to go?? (I keep getting dragged to Sardi's, etc.) I want deli!!

Go to the diamond district- 47th Street between Fith and Sixth Avenues. There is a big Diamond Center on the south side of the street - it looks like a department store with lots of different diamond dealers - mostly Hassidic Jews. There is a kosher dairy lunch counter on the mezzanine at the back, overlooking the sales floor. They have excellent blintzes. At least they did five years ago. I assume the lunch counter is still there. It's been there at least 50 years!

Of course, for the ultimate kosher dairy experience, go to Ratners on Delancey Street in the Lower East Side.

Corine2 won't be able to help. Blintzes aren't listed in the Zagat's Guide.

I am sorry. But that place is disgusting. i used to go there as a child and it was great. Their blintzes now are the frozen kind and the waitresses are old and real nasty.

I thought Ratners went out of busness. They did have good blintzes. Does anyone know if they are still around?

Ratners is out of buisness I believe. Another flea bag joint. But you are right. Delicious deep fried blintzes with apple sauce or sour cream.

I think you can still buy Ratner's blintzes in the freezer section of some grocery stores. not as good as the real thing. At THe Jewish Tea Room they only serve tea in a glass.

Looove blintzes. My mother was the blintz queen. I need to get to New York. Even a bad blintz there will taste great!

If you come to NY after August 30th (they are currently closed)
Barney Greengrass has them. I hate Blintzes, so I am not a good judge but I had them a few times and they were almost as good as my Grandma's.
I prefer sturgeon and whitefish. If you love that, Barney Greengrass is the best.
Eli Zabars on the East Side also has them.

PS (Barney Greengrass has the best eggs, lox and onions in the City. Just be warned the atmosphere is not scenic and the service is not 4 star, but the food is.)

Thank you all SO much! My mouth is watering! I'll be in NYC Sept 24th & 25 and I may just try all the suggestions---I NEVER get tired of blintzes!!!

Liotte--the 2nd Avenue Deli is kosher and does not serve dairy.

Not even cream cheese on Sunday morning or cream for your coffee.

My meal was FABULOUS! My taste buds were in seventh heaven, and I can't wait to go back (December seems a long way off!) Thanks so much for your suggestion, it was right on! I'll have to check out the others, too!

You should also get yourself to Blue Water Grill (UNION SQ)
City Crab (19th Park Ave South)

Zagat should have hired me when they had the chance!
