If you got to chose where you could live, where would it be and why?
Rule: You cannot chose NY.

Well since I've been exiled from my fair city, I guess Jersey City will have to do (only to get around your little restriction)
I'd would also like to live in London, or a college town like Madison, Eugene, or Athens.

Honestly, it's not so much the 'where' for me as the 'how'. I like to have access to natural beauty, but still have cultural availability. Not being somewhere cold helps, too. I'd like to have as close to a 'free' life as possible, and feel safe, secure and peaceful where I'm at.
At the moment, where I am in Southern California is giving me all that, and I'm very grateful.
I probably wouldn't so 'no' to having a little apartment in Amsterdam, though

Munich, a big city with a small city feel, culture, Oktoberfest, in the heart of Bavaria which I love, close to both Chiemsee and Bodensee, everything I could ask for in a city.........
the only bad parts are, it is very, VERY Catholic, and is the only state in Germany with a law against HIV+ people emmigrating.......

Posted: 5/22/05 at 1:48amThe central Oregon coast is absolutely stunning. And Portland is a wonderful little city - progressive, cultured and beautiful.

cap'n, i'm picturing you like milton at the end of office space.
where would i like to live? on a boat, and travel far and wide: paris, nice, geneva, brussels, london, manchester, edenborough, dublin, rome, milan, munich, berlin, budapest, st. petersburg, moscow... that's my honeycomb, 'cause any place i hang my hat is home. i love canada so really any of the major cities there would rock hard. in the states, since i'm not permitted to choose brooklyn, i have to say the more historical cities on the east coast- phili, boston, ect. i also rather like chicago, but it's kind of stuck in the middle of nowhere. i enjoy austin but i'd never live there for an extended amount of time, because choosing to live in texas just seems masochistic.

Well, I'm sure I needn't mention what the ReallyReallyBad Idea Bears want me to say here.
But, honestly, I don't think my ideal place even exists. I would like to keep my home's climate, topography, size/population, but with a more liberal political climate. Most of all, I would love to have all those things AND be a comfortable half-day's drive from Walt Disney World, so I could run down for a weekend whenever I wanted, instead of having to schedule a week's vacation from work and get on a bunch of scary planes.

Boston, or Chicago.
Because I want a large northern or midwestern city.

Posted: 5/22/05 at 3:01pmBaltimore! I visited there a few times and really liked it. Lot's of good places to eat (I love crabs!), some cool neighborhoods, The O's, and I'm a big John Waters fan.
