Hello, I am directing a student-studio and we are looking at the following shows: - Once on This Island - Cocoanuts (by Gershwin) - Celebration - By Jeeves - Working
Of these, which do you guys recommend we do? We're looking for a show that people are going to enjoy and want to see, but still is fairly small.
AH! OOTI is such a fun show. It's a great for cast member bonding and great for ensemble building. Since OOTI is mainly about the peasants being one big family, at the end of your run, I promise you'd feel that way too.
Is it possible to do Once On This Island without the "racial issues"? Our school is very heavily caucasian, and we usually only have one or two african american students and maybe 3 or 4 asian students audition for the "large" show.
