In an average year which do you spend the most $$ for -

cds?

dvds?

show tickets?

books?

and do you ever regret it (realizing how much it adds up to)?

Even if I don't like the show, at least I got to go and experience it. I just know I won't go spend more money and see it again!

tickets... cuz then i have to pay for airfare... and possibly a place to stay... and food to eat... and whatever else i do while in the city


but then tickets cost a billion dollars, so everything else feels cheap!

I was just thinking...

If you buy...lets say- 20 show tickets *per year* and each costs...75$ (That is about average for what you would pay between regular price and discount tickets- right?)

That would be 75X20 which = $1,500
If you bought $1,500 worth of CD's, that would be about 75 Cd's.

That's like 1.5 CD's per week.

That's a lot of CD's.

Well, I don't live in a hoppin' theatre community such as NYC, so it's definitely CDs and DVDs. Moreso CDs, though. I think my only regret was...well, none really. I like them all. Even my Jekyll OBCR.
Did I just use the word "hoppin'"?

Books. (I'm lucky enough to get comps to almost all the shows I go see here in LA) =) Now, this year, tickets are probably in the lead, 'cause I went to NYC and saw a few shows, but in an average year? Definitely books.

while it's usually CDs/DVDs (i put them together), this year it will end up being theatre tickets as i plan to go crazy with the fringe fest and NYMF, (I'm selling a small amount of stock just to use the money for theatre this next school year, as I tend to often never have the money to see shows when i get time, and never have time when i have the money.)

I don't really spend much money on any of those. As I live in Atlanta, there is not much theatre that comes through here. Even so, it would probably be on tickets. Though it's not nearly as much as many people, I'm sure.

it would be very close between cd's and tickets........only because I go to fewer shows as the nearest decent ones are two hours away. (Two coming up next month).

I never regret it!

Tickets (and the travel involved) - worth every penny spent. Now I have moved even further away (to Tampa area), so now it will involve MORE $ for travel. However, I am not complaining as I love to travel.

I did check out the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center website, and luckily, there are many B'way shows a-coming, so I can save $.

Books. My tickets are usually comped, and I can often get promom copies of CDs.

Tickets, definitely. I don't spend a lot of money on music, and even though I love to read, I don't read as much as I would like.
