Posted: 11/12/09 at 8:59amI'm sure I remember reading something about this several years ago, and I'm not really sure who it was (though the author was successful). Anyone know who this is? Or was I hallucinating...

Heavenly Creatures was a disturbing movie. Kate Winslet was really good.

Posted: 11/12/09 at 11:03amThat film has perhaps the most brutal murder scene that shows absolutely nothing as far as gore goes. Every time I see that film that scene never ceases to make me cringe.

Posted: 11/12/09 at 11:26amShe says that they weren't in a lesbian relationship and she's never seen and will not see the movie. I wonder if she knows it's considered a creepy lesbian movie. The gay bookstore in Nashville used to keep it on the shelf next to Sister, My Sister and Bargirls.

According to wikipedia it seems our Ms Perry joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is now absolved of her sins.
I don't think it really works that way. But whatever floats your boat.

Eris, that really made me smile. :)
And if you haven't seen this film rent it today, it's one of her first and still holds up as one of Winslet's best.

This is a quote from the end of the "New Life" section of the link I posted. I was paraphrasing.
"Although she admits regretting that the incident took place, Perry has been openly evasive of her accountability for her role in the murder and believes that through her faith she has successfully shed all responsibility for her crime."
Maybe it's because I'm not religious but I feel if you participate in someone's horrific murder you're responsible for the rest of your life. It just doesn't go away because you become a mormon.
And I've always found it amusing that she chose to become mormon after the fact that her parents thought she was a lesbian. She says they were not but you still have to wonder. It seems becoming a mormon might be the perfect way to "hide" from it.

I'd say it depends on why he's crying and praying. If he's saying, "Thank you, Lord! Please don't ever let me live without this!" Then yeah, I'd be ok with it.

Posted: 11/12/09 at 3:14pmI have heard of several people who pray after sex to be forgiven. If you're sinning just because you know you can pray after and be forgiven, I don't think it should count. And as Callie said on Grey's Anatomy, "You can't pray away the gay!"

Posted: 11/12/09 at 3:23pmThank you! It was driving me crazy! I saw an interview with Patricia Cornwell this morning on GMA, which reminded me of the incident---except I couldn't remember which author it was (and I know that doesn't say much for the vibes that Ms. Cornwell gives off!)

Posted: 11/12/09 at 3:25pmI know, right? So we can do whatever we want, as long as we pray for forgiveness right after?
