re: Who Needs! Mojito Time? (30th Anniversary).. MORE HAPPY TIMES!

I finally tasted my first Mojito, Dame, a few weeks ago.

It wasn't mine, it was someone else's, so it was just a taste, but it was interesting, a little unexpected in flavor.

Now I think of it when I see your thread.

Havana Central.

They were on special for $5. My friend insisted I taste it.

I like Havana Central, it's fun. They have live music sometimes and I really like Latin music (unless they play it too loud).

I like their Classic Cubano sanwdich with sweet potato fries, their avocado salad, their passionfruit cheesecake dessert, their saffron rice and other things.

I will have to check them out next time we are there. Are they regular bars? Or gay establishments? I tend to stay away from straight places. Not that I have anything against them. But I deal with enough straight people at work.. so when I socialize... I like getting slushed with my own. re: Who Needs! Mojito Time? (30th Anniversary).. MORE HAPPY TIMES!

I can't remember enough about the downtown one though I ate there once. I don't recall it as a gay hang-out from that one visit.

The one in the Upper West I would call pretty hetero. And if I had to try to figure that for Times Square I don't remember any guy couples or seeing anyone obviously gay there the several times I've been there, though I wasn't really looking to see who was there, I really go for the food.

I can understand why you might want a place to relax in that way while you are drinking, so maybe it's not the place to go, though maybe some gay folks could give you a better idea on that. You might try it for lunch sometime and see what you think of the vibes. It's only been a happy place when I've been there, not really like a "closed group" male sports bar or anything. And it's a big place, it's not like it's just a bar, there are loads of tables and booths to sit at with "your own" if you bring them along. I don't think it would be the place to go to meet lots of new gay male friends, no.

Come to think of it, I took a closet gay theatre friend to the Upper West Side one for supper several times and he enjoyed it and bumped into some friends at the bar (no idea if they were gay, but not obviously so).

Have I answered that to death? I did my best.

In many ways great! The kids are healthy and happy. They are back in school and in good spirits. C14 is a frosh, so we have yet to see how she will adjust. C15 has more friends than I know people, so she loves school. C11 loves football, etc. Mrs. Brd is really the same, she looks great and works hard to make here kids happy!

BUT, paying for all of this??? Yikes!

How is your business?

Horrible. Don't even ask. But I am glad things are well for you. We are seeing Liza at the Bowl this weekend. We were so looking forward to it. unfortunately it is over 100 degrees.. and I don't know if Liza and a heat wave go hand in hand.

She might literally melt in the heat!

Business also sucks here! We had a nice 2008, but now? I had a lecture from my two best lawyer friends during cocktails after work about how I MUST jettison a partner!
