I could have seen The Apple Tree or another show in NY if the woman that I married many years ago would have granted my wish to go to NY for my birthday. But, "We are too busy." is the response. So, what ever.

Brd, when it's YOUR birthday, you have to be a little more insistent! I believe that we should do whatever the birthday boy/girl wants to do, not impose on them what is convenient for us.

For my husband's last birthday, I had my step-daughter fly in from New Orleans to surprise him. We had dinner in his favorite restaurant that night. Then she watched the kids for an evening while we went to see a show that he really, really wanted to see. He was SO happy.

Many threads back, I posted about my friend's wife's death. Yesterday, his mother died. And his son is in Iraq. He cannot come home. F*C* this war!!!!!

I sang at his wife's memorial. Can you imagine? You bury your wife. Your son has to come home from Irag for the memorial.

Two years later, your mother dies and your son cannot come home because he is in Iraq?
