Who do you think has the greater advantage?

In no way am I depending on my skin and hair color alone. I have fully prepared myself and I am obsessing over getting my audition song and lines perfect. But, there is another girl that I have as competition for the lead role. She has blonde hair, fair skin, and blue eyes and sounds very much like a Disney princess and always plays the ingenue. I have dark hair, dark tanned skin and I am, like her, a soprano. I never really play the ingenue type of role and I am told I have a more mature sounding voice rather than a disney voice. This is a professional youth musical theatre company. The show we are putting on is Aladdin Jr. and the role we are both hoping for is the role of Princess Jasmine. In youth theatre, do you think I have any advantage because of my appearance? or do you think the ingenue blonde has the advantage of sounding like a Disney princess?


p.s. I am aware that in the end when it all comes down to it the casting will be based on who they think will perform the role the best, not just on who looks most like the original. I'm just hoping that I have some sort of advantage. honesty is appreciated. We are both trained singers.

Hmmm, that's a toss up- will they go with the person who looks the part or sounds the part?
The answer: it totally depends on other factors- mainly the rest of the talent pool. If the majority of the performers are blonde or don't look in any way Arab, your appearance probably won't work in your favor (though it certainly won't harm you). It also depends on who they cast as Aladdin and who will work better with him.
