I was forty and I wasn't looking at the time. My husband and I were introduced by a lesbian couple who lived down the street from me. We were each friends with one member of the couple and he was coming from the city to visit them. They thought it was a shame to let a "quality straight male go to waste" and invite me to stop over. This was back in the early '90s when I had never so much as seen a computer up close. My friend said, "All I know is that he's divorced and a vegetarian, but he's one of Karen's computer friends, so the nerd factor could be pretty high..." Who knew. Things worked out well, much to everyones surprise, and let's just say that I've adapted to life with (and some would argue "as") a computer nerd beyond all expectations.
