My best friend is DeeAnna. We met Fall 1995 in college. We are VERY Will & Grace. That show SCARES me. I'm almost certain the writers are following us, taking notes.
I have some gay friends who completely understand the deep friendship I have--they have Graces, too. Other gay friends make fun of it. They don't understand it at all.
We get lots of "married" jokes--and sometimes, it IS like a marriage--a marriage most couples would be envious of. Does this close me off to dating men (like what seems to happen to Will)? Maybe it does. But, I don't feel that it does. And, I wouldn't trade this friendship for anything in the world.
She's like family to me--the sister I never had. No, she's not like family to me. She IS family to me.

My best friend just proved herself even more wonderful. My birthday is at the end of January. She was busting to tell me that she already got my present. While in the car yesterday, I was mentioning wanting to see Wicked again, now that I live so close and maybe hitting the rush one day. She said, "Um...well, if you can hold out until Feb. 4th..." :) That sweetie got us tickets to Wicked, very close, good seats. She is not much of a Broadway fan, but she knew I would love it. And then she asked if she got them late enough so that, "the witch you don't like that much will be gone?" lol What a cutie.
She taught me to parallel park and she was also very patient yesterday during my first experience driving in Manhattan. (I did handle it like a pro, though) I have the greatest best friend in the world.

This is a great idea for a thread! How often do you get a chance to sit back and put your thoughts together about your best friend?
I have had only a few “best friends” at given stages of my life and though all have remained friends that I enjoy, I never ran into another guy who can see through me so thoroughly…yet be ok with that…until I got to know my real best friend. We are an unlikely pair since I am 14 years older than he is; my kids are college age and older, his kids are still young. There are times when I mentor him and other times when he mentors me; depending on the issue. The bottom line is that we are completely comfortable being ourselves with each other; respect each other enough to be honest with each other, and both benefit from that trusted perspective. We enjoy many things in common, yet are different enough to keep things interesting. Even our wives know how good this friendship is for both of us and encourage us to do things together. How great is that??
It’s great to have a lot of acquaintances; many of whom I consider to be friends. It’s fantastic, though, to really connect with a truly best friend.

My boyfriend is my very best friend in the world. I can tell him any thing and he doesn't judge. He is also my biggest cheerleader and he loves me no matter what.
I am so grateful for him.

Posted: 10/17/05 at 11:46amMy best friend is Tim. We met in college in North Carolina almost thirty years ago at a party. About ten years after that party we figured out that we had both slept with the same guy--that same night! There is not a thing we don't know about each other at this point. He lives in Ohio, so I don't get to see him very often now.
