DAME -- See THAT I have to figure out. I'm at a conservative seminary. I've been raised as such. But I tend to lean towards reform in my belief and certainly observance.
An artsy temple, eh? That actually sounds very nice!
Brd...C's in math and religion I completely understand! Rough subjects, even now.

I love singing (yes, cliche, I know) but I've always found that to be link to Judaism. The liturgy and monotony can drive me nuts, but when I'm singing or reading the Torah, its something different.
And it might be nice to mix the two in my endeavors in life - singing and Judaism.
However, the question is where I go...where and how I affiliate?

Posted: 10/28/05 at 11:43pmHarris - law partner? We own the firm. We are actually share holders, but the traditional term is partner.

Shira- I know it sounds corny. But you will have to follow your heart. I do believe the reform side will be more understanding of your affiliation as a hussy.. and the hussys you hang with

Exactly.
However, does that mean I should feel like a hypocrite at the seminary when I am now?

Posted: 10/28/05 at 11:55pmShira; there is no need to feel like a hypocrite. You are getting a education. You are capable of forming your own believes and just learn from what is being presented to you. And with that education you can become whatever kind of religous cantor you want to be. Does that make any sense?

Posted: 10/28/05 at 11:57pmYes it does...However, if I am ordained at a Conservative seminary, would I be accepted at a Reform congregation, and vice versa?
