thank you COokie! I adore you!
brd -- Saturday sounds great! Can't wait to hear the details!

Posted: 3/8/05 at 11:09pmPrinceton -- is that a challenge??? Be careful my friend -- I;m Irish and an Okympic-eligible drinker.....hmm -- should I have posted that??

no variation on a cosmo theme in Boston, Princeton?
Keep us updated on that menu, brdlwyr!
#2581Who needs a Mojito time?
Posted: 3/8/05 at 11:16pmI feel so... "ignorant" about wine. I love wine, especially red, just don't know much about it. I know the ones I like at the store, and none of them cost more than $12.

Princeton--beware! K can drink you under the table!
And then, what he DOES when he gets you there! He's Olympic-elegible for THAT too!
#2583Who needs a Mojito time?
Posted: 3/8/05 at 11:18pmI'm as Irish as they come K....so there.

Posted: 3/8/05 at 11:19pmPJ -- what else can I say...thank you! Truth be told....

I'd wuss out in a drinking match with K...
ET: Nothing wrong with sticking with what you like... As long as you try some of the new stuff as well. And branch into the whites, especially during the summer...

Oh yeah, totally. I love it, just don't "know" it at all. So I buy what I know, and that's cheap.
Whites give me really bad headaches...

see Princeton -- my bud;s know me -- and yet I still wonder if this is good?????
Tico -- don;t let wine intimidate you -- know what you like or more important what you don't...for me sweet wines are not a favorite and if I am unfamiliar with a grape -- I simply say what I do not like in a wime -- don't get all caught up in the lingo -- try differnet stuff and take some notes on what you like and don't like...a trip out to the Yakima Valley and some tastings sound like a great weekend!

Cookie and K:
I forget to mention the dinner on Thursday which is a quasi business dinner at my Club with a South American theme and tango dancing following (not us but a demonstration).
And a much needed night out with the wife….. (and Saturday) you guys do not have these issues
Passed Chilean Salmon Ceviche
Estate SV Blanc 2002
Empadades del hornas
Estate C****nay 2002
This is not the Saturday menu.
Backed Sea bass with Chimichurri Sauce
Cuvee Alexandre Chard. 2003
Pastel del Chocio
Cuvee Alexandre Merlot 2001
Parilladas with Chilean Black Eye Peas and Winter Squash
Clos Apalta 2001
ElTico - I typed that...
It took me ten minutes.

Cookie...
I do know of one bar in Boston that makes a delicious strawberry cosmopolitan. It's on Newberry St. I can't think of the name...it will come to me.

Posted: 3/8/05 at 11:28pmYou DID just mention the Yakima Valley... I love WA wines. I live near the "wineries" east of Seattle (not across the mountains) so we go to Chateau St. Michelle for concerts in the summer and drink wine... or we bike up there and have splendid afternoons. (riding back is always a challenge...)

ET: whites in general or specific ones? Too sweet or too dry? what about champagne?
brdlwyr: That all sounds delish... I haven't done a wine pairing in the longest time... Hmmm.....

menu and pairings sound great Brd...typically I am not a fan of Chard0 (we can;t type the full name anymore)....but paired correctly it can be terrific....

brdlwyr: that menu sounds delicious! Totally love chimichurri sauce! And ceviche! I miss ceviche! Good job on the typing!!!
Cookie... whites in general, though with whites I do tend to go for the sweeter ones - Johannisberg Riesling is one of my faves... then I get the headaches. But it's also happened with chards...
LOVE Champagne. No... don't get a headache with it.

ET: do the drier whites do anything to you?
note to self: never give K chardo

El Tico, try a Sancerre. Or a pinot gris. Or an Alsatian white. (Cookie, visuals please!)
But beware an over-marketed Chablis (shudder!) an over-oaked C****nays. And only drink sweet white wines in tiny glasses as after-dinner wines.

K Chard0 (we can;t type the full name anymore). I think the kids are awake with my laughter. I often suffer from that typing problem.
El - I cannot eat fish (choke) - I will ask the chef to make a change.
