Dame, I just realized that you asked for a 'review'...my post wasn't exactly thorough, was it? LOL...
I loved the production of Streetcar. Natasha Richardson gave a powerful, yet nuanced, performance. I don't agree that she's too 'pretty' for the role. I think she portrayed the character perfectly. I also like Reilly in the role of Stanley. Are we so conditioned to expect someone 'hot' in that role because of the movie casting? I think that the fact that there wasn't a strong attraction between them throughout the play made the end 'event' all the more dramatic. I want to go back and re-read it to see what kind of direction and description Tennessee Williams actually included.... or have we just been assuming he intended certain elements.
Anyway, I really loved it.

I haven't seen Woolf yet. I am not a fan of Kathleen Turner's (yet I believe her to be well suited to that role...). I will try to get tickets in the next couple of weeks. It's been getting such good 'press'...

Posted: 4/29/05 at 12:11pmI am thrilled to hear that Addy. I just saw a production of that play here in Los Angeles about 6 months ago. unfortunately it was not very well put togther and it will be a while before I can commit to sitting through that text again. Have you seen virginia Woolf?

I just got tickets to see Streetcar again. I want to take my mom.
I don't know how Ms. Richardson does it every night. She just kept crying during the curtain call last night... the emotion must really take hold and stay with her for a while.

I am about to see Pillowman for the third time. Fascinating show!
Spelling Bee was just lots of fun. Original and energetic and the performances were terrific. Not BEST Musical quality, in my opinion, but just a wonderful theatre experience.
You'll love both. They couldn't be more opposite!
I truly enjoyed Glass Menagerie. Not the production, so much, as the performances. Especially Sarah Paulson. I also loved Steel Magnolias. Am about to see it again, as well. Have you seen Dirty Rotten Scoundrels? LOVE IT!

Posted: 4/29/05 at 2:43pmDame you MUST see Dirty Rotten Scoundrels...and I agree with Addy...Spelling Bee is fun, but you don't come out humming any of the songs.
