Posted: 5/12/05 at 2:47pmIt is dragging - I had a two hour breakfast meeting re: the Supremes next week. Eggs and bacon at 9:00 - felt strange.

I just had the most stressful morning... EVER.
Ok, not ever... but it was pretty stressful. And add that to the fact that I've been up since 6 am and barely got any sleep... yeah, not a good person to be around today.

Posted: 5/12/05 at 3:23pmcan I add myself to the pile of people who are not having a good day? I have negative phone calls to make, and I HATE negative phone calls... and I'm running out of things to do to avoid making them!

I lost the BWW awards to IMsooHyprToday, I'm very happy for him/her though...but I still need a drink. *I feel so unloved*
FYI I am just playing around, I really don't take things like this seriously

DD, thanks for the toast!
...and CHEERS to all the wonderful people who were nominated and all the wonderful people who weren't.
And, SOMMS, I was in D'Town on Sunday! You should have come over. I made a bunch of delicious salads for lunch - and even baked bread! (A rare occurrence...)
beacs...I hardly know what to say!

Posted: 5/12/05 at 4:03pmI just had my mother her for two weeks, as you all know and the break for now is nice. We are a hotel and I have my sister's family here for a few days starting this afternoon.

Posted: 5/12/05 at 4:05pmMy mother invites herself over all the time. she lives like an hour away but is "in town" almost every other day

Posted: 5/12/05 at 4:05pmI always thought it was bad that when my family visits, they stay for two weeks at a time... but I only have family guests maybe once every other year...

Posted: 5/12/05 at 4:15pmwhen my parents come to visit, it's never with any set departure time - they stay and stay and if you ask when they're leaving, they get insulted or say "when you get tired of us" AAARGHH!!

Posted: 5/12/05 at 4:26pmMine live overseas... they HAVE to have a return ticket... and they know the rule, no more than two weeks... they stay with my sister for six months at a time. eeek!

I'm so lucky that my parents live close by. It means the world to me that I can share the details of my life with them.
Especially now that my Dad is sick. My time with them is precious to me.

There is a difference between having them close by and actually staying with you. When my paents come I have to take off from work and be with them 24 /7 because they do not drive or know the language. I always enjoy their visits even though they all include at least one big fight at one point or the other.

My ideal would be having them live like an hour or two away... far enough where I can't be guilted into stopping every day for dinner, but close enough that I can go over on a Sunday or Holiday.
My family is the main reason for my upcoming move to the east coast. Plus I want to live in NYC.

Dame - I know what you are talking about. It really depends on age, health, etc. My mother is now high maintenance because of her mobility and my father is blind - it is like having toddlers.
Do your parents come from P.R.?
#6671Who needs a Mojito time?
Posted: 5/12/05 at 5:21pmYep. And they discovered that American now has a direct flight . Which means they will come visit more often.

I am thinking of moving to either NYC or to DC.
I've always wanted to live in NYC, but had been somewhat intimidated... but now I say, bring it on! Plus it's still close to my sister in DC.
DC is just where I lived for 8 years. I love it there. But I've been there, done that. Want to do something new. Both cities have direct flights back home, which is another HUGE plus. My parents are getting old, and I hate being so far away.

It all depends on where I get a job. I have to have a job before I move... insurance, you know. Can't afford to go without it. NYC is my (and my sister's and all my friend's) first choice.
