Thanks cookie... I don't drink tea, though... the smell...
brdlwyr, the weather is glorious, again. Ugh. For us here in the NW, a very nice winter means a f$%ked-up summer... water restrictions and such.
I know people here don't like rants, so I'll save you one. I'll just say we were at the theater for the first time last night from 5:30 until 11:00, and didn't run the show. We still haven't tried the quick change at the end. Oh yeah... the director was not going to have a line on stage because it "would look ugly in the finale". She's since relented. BUT we're having fun in the end. I'm just sad that a lot of the kids for whom this is the first ACL experience are missing out on so much. Ok... done now. (it's early and I'm just on my first cup of coffee)

Bye, Dame. Have FUN in Vegas!
I'm goofing off for a few minutes before I have to start packing and getting organized.
Had a good rehearsal today, but unfortunately, Harolyn Blackwell is ill and won't be singing tonight. Amy Burton is stepping in, (thanks to City Opera for loaning her to us), and she sounds just sublime.
The chorus has next to nothing to sing in Fidelio, and the sopranos and altos in particular have even less... We aren't even on stage for Act I. And only sing in the Finale. I'm not kidding when I say I have about 10 minutes of music.
But, in a way it's nice to experience this concert from the audience during the first Act, and to be able to just relax during the rehearsal and enjoy being onstage, looking out at the gem that is Carnegie Hall, listening to Beethoven. Very relaxing day...
But, now I must pack and get organized to fly out at the crack of dawn tomorrow...
Cheerio!

Oh Addy, you're just being modest.
We all know that during those 10 minutes of soprano/alto time, you're going to be leading the girls of the chorus in a display of...
...IDINA HANDS!!!!
Won't Devorah Voight be surprised!

...why thank you, Mr. Keaton. You are delightful yourself!
I am very much looking forward to some R&R...

LOL, PalJoey... I don't think Ms. Voigt likes being upstaged. I'll have to think about the appropriate application of said hands to the music.
You never know..
In fact, during my last concert my friends yelled at me for NOT doing Idina Hands, because they claim I had a perfect opportunity.
Not sure Beethoven provides it, but I'll see...

oh, speaking of travelling - a friend emailed this to me. Thought it was FUN, so I'm passing it on:
Travel: Come Fly With Me? A Quiz
Congratulations! You're finally considering your first vacation together (as a couple, a quasi-couple, whatever). Here's a little questionnaire to help you determine whether you're ready to take the leap.
Hypothetical scenario: One of us gets bumped to first class. Who's going — you or me?
Complete the following: When in Rome ...
a) get wasted, dude!
b) don't miss the Spanish Steps.
c) check out those hot Italian chicks.
d) beware of panhandlers.
Complete the following: Guidebooks are ...
a) useful, but shouldn't be relied upon.
b) to be used in conjunction with highlighters.
c) for tourists, not travelers.
d) best used as a doorstop.
What exactly is your policy on carrying other people's luggage?
I have some extra room in my suitcase. I should pack:
a) running shoes.
b) some candles to put by the tub.
c) your handcuffs.
d) my handcuffs.
(Trick question. There is no way I'll have extra room in my suitcase, fool.)
Do you have a fetish for having sex in historical landmarks or national parks?
We're at the airport and one of us (i.e., me) gets hungry. You then:
a) tell me you'll watch the bags and send me to the nearest Pizza Hut.
b) ask me what I'm in the mood for and go looking for it.
c) suggest we find a nice place to eat, since there's a good 45 minutes before boarding.
d) take something sweet out of your pocket, because you knew I'd be hungry and that airport food is awful.
You've finally agreed to take me to your parents' house for a long weekend. We get there and you:
a) introduce me to your parents, then leave me with your mother for some quality time.
b) suggest that you get the bags while I get to know your parents.
c) have your parents give me a tour of the house while you play with Rex, the family dog.
d) do not dream of leaving me alone with your parents for even one second.
Fill in the blank: When we get on the plane, your iPod is ___ iPod.
True or false: France, like any foreign country, is a place where you should be careful not to eat too much.
(False. You tell me not to eat in France, it's over.)
We get separated. We'll find each other at:
a) the nearest sports bar.
b) the nearest boutique hotel.
c) the nearest shoe store.
I will not under any circumstances try to get a look at your passport photo. ________________ (sign here)

Addy - have a great performance and a wonderful vacation. We had planned a Florida trip this month but my father is coming to Chicago for "blind" school at the V.A. - learning to handle his blindness.
Just spent 3 hours with the corporate accountant not to much FUN.
Will you have internet access in Florida???
Mom - I needed you last night - said something I shouldn't and my daughter was crying and the wife was pissed. Things are better today.
School function tonight and then a few "Mojitos"
Anyone going to Addy's concert - send a review!
