Probably because so much of the dicussion in them is extremely off-topic.

Posted: 2/13/06 at 9:13pmhow can something be "official?" I mean was it approved by someone?

I believe that these threads can pretty much be called anything you want. There is no 'official' or 'non-official'. (In the case of a web site, it's only official if it has the backing and support of the actor themselves.)
And it's off Topic here because the discussions concern a million and one different things and only occasionally touch on an actual Broadway show.
A click for life.

Posted: 2/13/06 at 9:19pmI think calling them official began as some sort of mockery, no? I mean, when the Adam Pascal thread was created, it was dubbed the "official" place to discuss the man, after so many poor people had their threads jacked by Adam's fans.

Posted: 2/13/06 at 9:24pmI only asked because at one point when I checked in here tonight the top five threads all had a Broadway actor's name in the title and I had to double check to see if I was on the Off-Topic board, which is where I wanted to be. Sometimes I just don't want to read about Broadway actors. Maybe when an actor's name is in a thread title the thread should be moved to the Main Board, the way off-topic posts are moved by the moderators.

Posted: 2/13/06 at 9:28pmSo don't read about Broadway actors. Skip the threads. A few of them started out on the main board and were moved over here.

Posted: 2/13/06 at 10:07pmYes, right, but you seem to miss my point which is that I chose to come to the OFF topic board because I didn't want to wade through fangurlboi minutia. I'm sure this one's super nice and that one's deserving of everybody's "<3", however, what is the point of HAVING an off topic board if on topic threads appear in it?

Posted: 2/13/06 at 10:31pmStupid question..what does "<3" mean....I always read that as "less than 3"...I believe that is what I was taught in grammar school.

Posted: 2/13/06 at 10:53pmI agree, an Official Thread Board would be a great idea. And since the Celebrity of the Day Thread hasn't curtailed the others, how about a "Rocks/Rules Board" as well?

Posted: 2/13/06 at 11:31pmI think it's been made pretty clear that these threads are more like mini social clubs than actual ongoing fan threads. The general theme is the actor, but that's not all that's talked about.

I always see some of them for like the most random people too. I remember there was a short lived JLT one, yet there seems to be ongoing ones about less known people.
Oh I really don't know lol.

The Anthony Warlow thread is on the main board. But that's because it actually focuses on Anthony Warlow.
I've never been able to bring myself to enter an "Official" thread. I think my head would probably explode after a few minutes.
