I was in Best Buy today and I came across "My name is Earl: The fourth and final season".
I had no idea it was cancelled and I was always under the impression it got good reviews and was well liked. Why the Cancellation?
Did anyone watch it? I enjoyed every episode I saw, and my brother and grandma loved it, but I've never met a single other person who actually watched it.
Probably for the same reason, whatever it was, Pushing Daisies was canceled.
Yes, I'm still bitter about that one.

A note: In the last few Emmy ceremonies Jean Smart, Jaime Presley and Kristen Chenowith (SAMANTHA WHO?, EARL, PUSHING DAISIES) all won for Best Supporting Actress in shows that were canceled.
P
I loved the show and would always DVR The Office and Earl. It urks me we never got a true deffinitive ending to the show.
Most likely to cut costs at NBC. It wasn't getting phenomenal ratings or winning awards, and Weekend Update Thursday is a lot cheaper to produce than Earl.
Wow - I'm really out of the loop. I didn't realize it was canceled. While I thought it was hit or miss, it had its moments of brilliance.

I, for one, am not a fan of "redneck" humor. Too many of the jokes were based on missing body parts, bad hygeine, etc.

Um. Redneck humor?
Yeah, well, whatever it was it was damn funny. I saw a rerun last night where Earl attempts to settle the gang war between the Latin & black prison gangs. That had to be one of the funniest half-hours in television history.
this is the 4th show that i loved that just ended without a real ending.
excuse me while i go sulk in a corner.

I have a friend on the show. Trust me, it took the entire cast by surprise. They were held in limbo during hiatus, waiting to hear about the start of next season.
Looks like NBC sat on the news - seeing as how fast they got out the packaging for the DVDs.
I was an initial fan, but let's be honest -- the show's premise was stretched thin, starting at the end of the 2nd season. Its strength was the character specificity/voice/redneck texture and the sustained attempt at redemption, with moral and other obstacles. After a while, it depended too much on contrivance and recycled ideas (it felt like column a column b, with backstory revision to keep things "fresh.") I grew weary of the road runner cartoon problem -- people learning lessons, forgetting them, having to re-learn truths. The cast was winning, but was ita 5-7 season piece of material? I was argue that it was not.
I thought it was mostly funny with some terrific performances, but I grew tired of the premise halfway into season 2 and the show just became sort of monotonous to me. I wasn't aware it had been canceled or that there even was a fourth season.
