Wife Swap

Posted: 9/29/04 at 10:12pmCould they be more obviously setting up the rich woman to look like an ass? She's rich!! If I had her money, I wouldn't be working, cooking, or cleaning either! I love how they narrate that she has nannies with her children "morning till night" - are we supposed to believe the nannies are sitting with the kids at school all day? Yeah, we don't see the writing on the wall here.

but dude, she only spends an hour a day with her kids. dat's just wrong. anyway it was entertaining to watch her chop wood in UGGs. the families were both on different extremes, i think they just need to chill out a bit and find a medium.
and the rich lady's husband looks like mickey mouse.

Whadja think of the other husband? Real sweetie, eh?

Posted: 9/30/04 at 10:11amThe rich husband was such a horrible human being. If he's not going to follow the rules, then he should not have agreed to the show. It's funny how it did look like the rich wife was set up for failure, yet she was the one who made the most progress. She needs to dump that jerk, though.

Posted: 9/30/04 at 10:14amWhich jerk? The guy from NJ I was ready to throtle, but he really came through. The NY husband is the kind of guy that makes most New Yorkers look bad. I wonder if the nannies came back to work for them?

Posted: 9/30/04 at 10:27amDepends on the time frame - they may have had to find other jobs.

Posted: 9/30/04 at 10:35amWhen they were dismissed, I heard one of them say, "Yay! We get a vacation!" Obviously, they knew they were coming back as soon as the show was over. I doubt anything really changed for the rich couple. I just kept wondering why that man wanted three kids if he just ignores them and in the case of that show, literally hides from having to spend time with them. I'm glad it was documented, so they kids can see what kind of father they have when they're older.

Wow, a 2 year old bump!!
The only time I saw this show was because one of my camp families was on it last year. Hysterical!

Posted: 9/25/06 at 9:44pmI accidentally got sucked into a marathon on ABC Family one weekend. Totally formulaic and incessantly watchable.

Posted: 9/25/06 at 11:25pmI loved the episode last week with the pirates. Damn my mother for getting me hooked on this mind numbing show!

The title alludes to a swinging lifestyle, which is why I initially tuned in. Do you know how surprised I was to discover it was a show touting family values?

Family values...e.g. "the wife" as property?
"The wife" as just that, "the wife" - not her own person, attached to her husband (I mean, "the man of the house") 'til death do them part?
I'm sorry, I know I'm basing my opinions off the title only, but still..."Wife Swap"?!
/end rant

I find it interesting how often the fathers balk at the new rules with the excuse of everything they've taught their kids going out the window.
Obviously they don't trust that they've instilled anything deeply enough to mold their kids' values.

Posted: 11/27/06 at 8:12pmIs this the episode where one of the families has camera surveillance all throughout the house or something like that?
