With "Mamma Mia" and "Doubt" both coming out this year, and getting tremendous buzz, wouldn't surprise me in the least if Meryl wins both Best Actress categories at The Golden Globes next year - Musical/Comedy AND Drama.
That would probably be a first.
I have seen the Mamma Mia! trailer a few times. Utter lowest common denominator garbage. I would only see the film to support Julie Walters, a two-time Oscar nominee whose name is not mentioned in the trailers.
Meryl is slumming again. Doing ABBA instead of Sweeney Todd.
She's doing what she wants to do. After doing the dreck known as Lions for Lambs, I'm sure she wants to do something fun.

fflagg, you are right......Meryl is slumming again. How dare she not check in with you first........
Slumming again - not sure what that means? What is your defination of slumming?
I think the more intriguing question is how many will she get in 2015.

OMG! She's almost 60! Shouldn't she have been called to the carousel by now?
Meryl's "You'll Never Walk Alone": coming to radio stations near you summer 2009!

If there's anyone who needs to get a life, it would be you. If you are capable of cursing at a total stranger, there is clearly something wrong with you.
If you are going to say something so
stupid, people will call you on it. You can dish it, but you can't take it.

There was an article I read saying that she's paving the way for the middle aged actresses to still be successful when they're meryl's age because she's so much more well known now than when she was like, Reese's age [one of actresses she's paving way for along with Julia Roberts and one other I can't think of...]

I think that I read that article, as well. Meryl is magic.
It's still a long way off, and neither film has come out... but yeah, knowing Meryl, it's a big possibility for her to win both categories.
And yes, I think that would be a first.
Right now, I'm still laughing over the "carousel" comments. I'm picturing her singing "You'll Never Walk Alone" as she explodes high above a cheering crowd of futuristic 20-somethings.
Total LOL.
