You got to see both?
I was reminded why I haven't seen this show in years.

"The cleverest thing in the show was how Rosie was able to clean up the mess in under a minute. How'd they do that?"
I think they built two bathroom sets. Because after the bows at the end, they panned up and you could see another bathroom set, except messy.

Posted: 1/13/06 at 12:22amyes, they did the effect with a 2nd room. i had the episode taped, so i was able to go back and watch it to see how it was done. if you watch, Rosie turns on the vaccuum and we dont see her for a while and the camera is on the other 4. then it switches to a kind of close up on Rosie. when the camera is on the other 4, Rosie is moving into the room to the left of where they were. when the camera is back on Rosie, the other 4 follow. it was pretty clever if you aren't paying attention.

He's used to playing opposite hyper-chimpmunk Couric. He doesn't know how to adjust his performance.

What was the last sitcom to do a live show? I can't recall. All I know is that to risk doing slapstick comedy live is a HUGE risk. Good for Will and Grace for taking that risk.
Mind you, Messing and Hayes are relying on breaking to get them laughs, but...they've got little to no stage training like Megan and Eric have.

Last nite was not as funny as the first live show they did, but I have to hand it to them.
With all of the sitcom crap on tv now, I am surprised at how many former fans now hate the show. It may not be as funny as it was, but it is still funnier than most of what is out there, imo.
The "Sound of Music" episode last week was hilarious.

I think I might be the only one who didn't like last weeks episode. To me, it had so much potential, but ultimately fell flat.
I just don't know what to say about last nights episode.
My absolute favorite episode was the one featuring Matt Damon. Now that episode was funny!

"What was the last sitcom to do a live show?"
"Roc" in the early '90s did every show live. But almost the entire cast were stage actors: Charles S. Dutton, Rocky Carroll, Carl Gordon

Okay, so they have now done two lives shows which is fine. The problem I have is that both scripts were very week, especially that one last night. This show, IMO, ran its course at least a year ago and should have come to an end. Hopefully this is truly their last season.
I didn't find the laughter by Hayes and Messing at all cute just a bit unprofessional. It's the same thing they did the last time while everyone else was able to play what had to be played.
This series is and has been grasping at straws all season.

Actually "The Drew Carey Show" went live in 1999

Hmm well Eric McCormack, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally started out as stage actors too.. You can still really see that on Megan I think.
I don't know what version I saw (someone put it on the net - I'm in love) but I loved it.. Of course the storyline is a little wonky but I can imagine it's hard to write a good script around only one set.. Too bad the pill-waterfall didn't work at first. And Megan finally screwed up! (not that I wanted her to but I found it a little scary in the season opener that she didn't.. not one little mess up!)
But I love it all, I'm not used to anything :)..

Posted: 1/13/06 at 3:43pmyeah, the script was rather dull--not too many laughs. I actually laughed the hardest when they broke up and couldn't keep a straight face. Other than that... blah.

I thought the first live episode was dull. I didn't see all of this one, but the part with Beverly.
I saw Matt's comments this morning on the Today show. How did he hurt his wrist?

The slapstick reminded me of the Carol Burnett Show.
That's a good thing.

Didn't Mad About You do a live show once? I remember they did a single camera/one shot episode (meaning they did the whole 1/2 hour straight through without stopping) but was it live too?
