After finally realizing how many germans are in the bww.com-board, we decided to open a german thread.
Just for fun and for exchange, reports and debates about german shows...
But of course everyone else is WELCOME, too!
The Germans at the spa.....
Any of you Germans familiar with the Stuttart Ballet?

They'll still be able to read it, they just can't type it, unless they switch over their keyboard

Bin schwer beeindruckt, es gibt wenige Amerikaner die fluessig eine zweite Sprache sprechen koennen, ausser villeicht Spanisch!

In Bayern!
First off, I live in Chicago USA but I've been around the globe a bit.
The Stuttgart Ballet is one of the world's finest ballet companies. They were considered miraculous in the 70s and 80s.

Have they bee doing tours to the US then, Glebb? I unfortunately haven't been seeing them yet. Well, the Ballet of the Berlinian opera's isn't bad either actually.
oh, and by the way: I am from Berlin.

Yes, they tour USA.
They came to the MET in the mid 70s and that's when everyone realized the miracle. Marcia Haydee was their great ballerina at the time. My company in NYC did a lot of their ballets. That is another reason I am so familiar with them.
Yes, Germany has a lot of good ballet.

We have several Broadcasting Stations who have their own ballet for Shows - it's called "Fernsehballet". They are engaged to dance in every show, which involves music.
And we have schools for it, too.

Martin?
I just discovered the classica channel on Premiere and it's fantastic. They were showing La Boheme and also this one ballet about this doll coming to life... that was amazing making me wish I would have let my mom talk me into taking ballet when I was little...
And from where has your love for Broadway come?

lol, M.Berger, that would be a by far better idea than the horrible Aida that gets to Berlin soon.
Well, I wish we had half as good "new" musicals in europe as we did or do have ballet companies.

The BWW members living in Germany (or anywhere other than the USA).
Broadway is far away for them.

I have parents who partly worked, partly work in musical theatre, so I got the bug there.
At some time I got to see a performance of My Fair Lady which my father conducted. Next day I started to write songs myself, lol, so the legend states.
What about the others?

Well, for me it was seeing my first Broadway show in New York...
Not too exiting. But I know there are lots of Germans who are OBSESSED with some of the German musicals and their performers. There are many German message boards like this were the equivalent of Idina Menzel would probably be a guy name Uwe Kroeger who has many crazies following him...
