Wipeout / I Survived a Japanese Game Show#1

Who could possibly come with these ideas? ABC has hit a new low. A funny, funny low.

The title "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" kind of suggests that they know how stupid it is.

I saw the previews and they looked dumb, but funny in the same instance. I actually think my mom is watching the Japanese game show right now.

Wipeout seems like it's based on a Japanese game show that one of the cable networks ran at night with American announcers dubbed over the Japanese announcers voices. I thought the big red balls were a hoot.

I feared the worst, but actually enjoyed Wipeout. THe contestants really have a good humor about it, which makes it work. I Survived a Japanese Game Show has potential since it is in a long-term elimination format. It's like America's Next Top Model except...well...it's in Japan?

I thought Wipeout was ok, not great, but no game show really is anymore. I survived... was much better than I anticipated. I was expecting clips of American contestants on the game shows, but was surprised to discover a reality show (which I usually hate) that had some new ideas, and some pretty good contestants. I am excited to see where it goes.

Is this like Most Extreme Elimination Challenge that used to come on Spike TV or FX?

I got a kick out of the show! I was suprised by the format. I thought it was going to be just like a reg game show but I like the whole reality take they went with....

yes...but no where near as funny. The overdubbing was what was so funny about MXE.
We laughed a few times at Wipeout, and I'm sure I'll watch "I survived...) because that's just the kind of reality show whore I am.

Wipeout sort of reminds me of Battle of the Network Stars, but without the D-List celebs.

Penny Marshall brought class to that show. Remember when they had the cast of Logan's Run? The series?

If you're a reality show whore, the two of us could start a production of The Life.

OOOOH! We could make it a reality competition series for whores! What would the challenges be?

Hate to admit it, but Wipeout was WAY more amusing than I expected. Granted, I watched it at 1 in the morning and was already pretty tired, but something about it just cracked me up.

Yeah, what saves Wipeout from being awful is that the people really act like they are having a great time while playing the game. I could have watched them bounce off those giant red balls for days.
