A fellow North Texan won the Gold!!!
But I felt sorry for Anna Pavalova. I was cheering for her to win.
I was cheering for everyone besides carly to mess up.

She looks too perky.
I, unfortunately, have a problem with overly-perky people and child stars.
Her interview with Bob Costas was painful.
if i were her i'd want to just go to bed, and not have to talk to the guy.

I'm so happy she won
I was rooting for her from the start. I started crying when she was crying, lol. Imagine how that must feel! Congratulations, Carly! -Penny
PS- Michael Phelps is hot! My goodness...
I was so happy for Carly, also.
And, I was thrilled that Svetana appeared to embrace her silver medal.
I have one general comment about the women gymnasts - they seem so serious and so much more childlike than the men gymnasts. I don't know if the men are, in fact, older on average, but I worry about the women/girls. (And what's up with the glitter this year? I would think it would be distracting, and perhaps dangerous if they sweat and got it in their eyes...)
men's requires more upperbody strength than womens. The Women reach their peak before the men. most female gymnasts arein their teens, while most male are in their twenties. Some are late 20's...like 29...or even 30.
They really amaze me. I can't imagine throwing myself into the air and doing flips. How do they do it? It's so cool!
I can imagine throwing you in the air.

So the most blandly perky of them all wins the competition. Bleh. I liked the gymnasts who were a little different- Khorkina with her impossibly long and skinny legs, the "elderly" Mohini Bhardwaj, and red-head Allana Slater of Australia were my favorites.
And am I the only one who finds the dance elements in the floor exercise (and the balance beam, too, ammit) to be stupid? Why do the women have to bounce around to music, but not the men? It skews the balance away from athleticism and towards artistry too much. I like artistry- I watch figure skating all the time. But seeing gymnasts do incredible tumbling passes, then mess up trying to execute choreography that looks like an unholy mix of ballet and the Macarena, really pissed me off.
oh please, khorkina? can we say anorexia? she looked like she was going to break at any moment. when they showed her in 2000 i could finally understand references to her modeling because as is the girl makes calista flockhart look positively obese.
i thought the chinese were the most fun from what i saw, and the russian girl was the hottest, yummy pavlova. sh*t she's probably 12...great.
Anna Pavlova is 17, only one year older than me.
I thought she was gorgeous, but uncommonly so. Which makes her all the more attractive. I wish she would have gotten the silver instead of Svetlana.

Khorkina herself even said in an interview that now it's all about pixiness, artistry, and the younger you get, the better.
That is why she still believes herself an Olympic Champion, even though she has the silver, because she believes that she personifies the champion- athletic and graceful, but more athletic than anything.
But I agree with you. And they don't even look like they're putting their heart into the dancing, it's just there and they want to get it over with.
I heard Mary-Kate Olsen took one look at Khorkhina and ran for the Devil Dogs.

I think Khorkina's height and long limbs made her look even skinnier- she seemed downright gangly whenever she wasn't flipping through the air. But when she was flipping through the air, she looked amazing. A long frame is good for one thing in gymnastics, I guess. :)

Isn't it great how every four years you get to look at beautifull underage girls in revealing clothes and not be called a perv.

I was told that due to extensive training all during their puberty years, there was none. They are all underdeveloped, thats why they all look thirteen and below, and sound it. Anyone remember when Kerri Strugg first talked on TV?
