#1Work-at-home question

I have a medical condition in which I am unable to work out of the house.
I am looking for a job that I can do from the home.
I have my bachelors in elementary education and I was looking at cyberschools but am unable to teach them for a various amount of reasons.
I've been looking at telecommunication companies online but haven't been able to find anything. I've also looked on Craigslist but can't find any jobs where I could work from home.
Additionally, I've called temp agencies and they don't do the work-from-home type jobs. It's for some workers' compensation reason.
The only thing that I found on the internet is where you pay $30+ and they find you a job. Of course, these are usually scams.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me to find a job I can do from home?
Thank you

A friend of mine was a moderator on AOL chatrooms and message boards. Try looking at the AOL website for information on that. She specifically worked to moderate the Nickelodeon message boards and teenage chatrooms.
You can also train in web & graphic design and work there, if you have the time/money/mindset.

I'm definetly going to look into being an AOL moderator.
As for the graphic design, I am not good in art at all so that wouldn't be an option.
Thanks for the suggestions!

It seems that, after researching, AOL does still have chat rooms. I've emailed AOL and inquired about moderating chat rooms. They have yet to get back to me but hopefully they will shortly.
If anybody else has ideas on a job I can do at home, I'd greatly appreciate your suggestions!
Thank you

Posted: 1/11/10 at 4:41amHave you ever tried writing? Quilting? My grandmother makes a few hundred bucks on the side quilting. She does a lot of quilts for baby showers - that sort of thing.

Since you have a degree in education...what about tutoring. You could contact the the local schools and get on their tutoring lists as well as put up fliers as such.

Biff. I do actually enjoy writing and am fairly good. However, I'm not good enough to do any professional writing and I've tried the blogging thing before and it didn't go over well. lol
As for the quilting...
For my senior project, I crocheted blankets for the Ronald McDonald house. It was a wonderful experience and I felt excellent in the end. However, it took me a very long time to make even one. I could try making smaller items, I suppose. Would you sell them on ebay? Does it cost money to post on ebay?
Drama- I love your idea and am definitely going to look into it! I don't think I can put up fliers (places have a policy where you can no longer advertise your services because if something happens, they are often held responsible). I am going to contact the local schools and ask though.
If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks again!

Posted: 1/11/10 at 9:08amThere are also tutoring services that you can sign up with and find clients through. They're easy enough to find online, but you can also ask some of the local school which ones, if any, they have worked with.

Posted: 1/11/10 at 9:27amOnline tutoring is an excellent suggestion. Last year, I used online chemistry tutor for my son. Writing would probably be an in-demand skill.

Posted: 1/11/10 at 6:17pmThere are legitimate sites that offer you the opportunity to work from home, one of our local news stations did a segment on this. Can't find the link right now, but if I do, I'll post it. (I remember thinking I need to keep this in mind, because I work from home now and I'm spoiled!)

The quilts my grandmother makes for baby showers are only, at most, 5 by 5 feet. Something that you could probably due, around the holidays, is gift wrapping. I don't know where you live, but if you're in a big city, I'm sure there are some busy wives/husbands who would rather pay someone to do it for them. I thought about doing it this year, but I got too busy with work.
I think tutoring is a great suggestion!
