Interesting that the ones mentioned so far are all very successful.

No correlation between movie-stardom and the craft and art of acting in too many cases!

He's hot and Legolas and Will Turner aren't exactly complex roles. It wasn't hard.

I think Pitt is capable of some pretty good acting- like in Fight Club. He's not great, but I wouldn't call him the worst. :)
Bloom, on the other hand, is about as pretty (and as boring) as a plank.

Of course, there are also always people (like Katherine Hepburn, for example) that will tell you that Meryl Streep can't act at all.
BRAD PITT?? JULIA ROBERTS?? YOU PEOPLE ARE BASTARD PEOPLE!

Julia is a darling, we all know that. But her roles aren't usually varied or terribly unique. I still love her.
Hugh Grant is typecast but I wouldn't say he's the worst actor in the WORLD.

How did he win the Tony if he's so bad? Honest question, I never saw BFO.

I would have to say Jennifer Lopez. The only time I like her was when Matt Lauer dressed up as her for Halloween.

Now we're talking.
Insomniak-
Hugh Grant = floppy-haired rom-com guy
Hugh Jackman = Tony winner for BFO, and a very good actor, among other things

How did I forget one-face Keanu?
I actually think Jennifer Lopez is capabale of great acting. She's chosen sh*t projects, though. Just watch her in SELENA and you'll see the talent is there.
The judgement is another thing...

Now, now. Be nice. Reeves has exactly 1.5 facial expressions- the Neutral Face and the Sort-Of Grimace he uses to express stress or emotion.
Lopez was pretty good in Out of Sight. I don't like her much, though. Or her singing.

Sorry! I should learn to read. Ugh.
I think Keanu has more like .75 expressions, Plum. I don't know that that face communicates enough of anything to constitute a full expression.

Did Katherine Hepburn never see Kramer V Kramer, Sophie's Choice, or Manhattan? Ok, not Manhattan...

Ellie - I think she probably saw everything - her opinion was that you could always see Meryl thinking - which ruined it for her.
My point is, it's all subjective. I guarantee that we all have people that we think are great who some other people think are pure crap.
