Macaulay Culkin. (Not judging on his performances as a child, because as Mister Matt said, a good child actor is extremely rare.) But, did anyone see him in Party Monster? Bad...awful. Ew. Especially prominent next to Seth Green's brilliance.

A failure to get into certain drama schools (or a failure to do well in them) is no indication of acting talent. Didn't Meryl Streep get put on academic probation in Yale? Or am I totally making that up?

Based on Robert Brustein's memoir "Making Scenes," I would say that, yes, you're either totally making that up, or your memory is just faulty. She was, apparently, quite the "star" at Yale, even provoking some resentment at her favored status. Her abilities were recognized early on by the powers that be, and she appeared in leading roles in most of the productions while there.
Just to take issue with a few of these choices:
Ashton Kutcher: Didn't embarrass himself at all in Butterfly Effect, though the movie was not great. And in his other dud, Just Married, his delivery of the line "look honey, it comes with free nuns" is worth the rental price alone.
Gina Gershon: She's fabulous. Anyone who can come out of Showgirls with her career intact has to have something. She's great in Bound and is the only reason to watch the interminably boring The Insider.
Ashley Judd: Yes, apparently her performance in Cat was sorely lacking. But on film she's wonderful. She managed to acquit herself in De-Lovely recently, and if anyone wants proof of what she's capable, rent The Passion Of Darkly Noon.
Tom Cruise: The man can act. Watch Mission:Impossible. Then watch Collateral. Then try and tell me he can't.
Kirsten Dunst: She's not terribly amazing in the Spider-Man films, but her performances in Crazy/Beautiful, The Virgin Suicides and Bring It On are all fantastic and prove the girl has range.
How is it that I haven't seen Ben Affleck mentioned yet? Unless I just missed it somewhere. That man is the epitome of mediocrity.
With an infinitely more talented younger brother.
anyone who performed in "From Justin to Kelly"
Yenta, you are correct, she and Scott were married for a while.
Re: my pick for worst artist: got to go with Frances Bavier ("Aunt Bee" on THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW). The voice alone was MASTERFUL! :)

Albin- Are you saying Anika Noni Rose is a bad actress? I think she was the only talented person in From Justin to Kelly
I think that Christina Ricci was really good in Monster.
Some of you are being a little harsh...to say Kirsten Dunst, Jennifer Lopez, and Julia Roberts (among others you have mentioned) are the WOSRT?
Now Hilary Duff, Freddie Prinze Jr., Josh Hartnett, The Olsen Twins...there's horrible acting for you. Also, there's an over-abundance of terrible acting present on these night-time sopa operas for teens (7th Heaven, The OC, etc.)

I thought I read that thing about Streep in a Playbill. Guess I'm just being delusionally insane as usual.

You know what, after I posted I realized that you had said "academic" probation. Although Streep was hugely busy and successful at Yale, it is possible that she was stretched so thin by appearing in every production, that she did have to skimp on class work. So maybe you were right.
Is delusionally insane worse than insanely delusional? I still haven't decided which one I am.
Why would people mention someone who's the 'epitome of mediocrity' on a list of WORST actors/actresses? Mediocre is noticeably better than worst, at least in any definitions I've ever seen of the word.
And, as usual, there's a difference between 'worst' and 'actors/actresses I don't like.'
All this brings me to the question of how we've gotten this far in a list like this with no mention of Ernie Hudson?
Patty Duke?! Are you SERIOUS???

apparently you people don't watch Passions.....
raven simon maybe i just dont like her
Tobey Macguire. Barely rises above so-so, and no, he is NOT sexy.
All of Daniel Day-Lewis' post-AGE OF INNOCENCE perfs. What the hell happened to this once-brilliant actor???!
As much as I hated hated hated HATED Gangs Of New York, Daniel Day Lewis was incendiary in that, don't you think Borstal?
sorry Dollypop - but I've seen some good work from all the people on your list and BRILLIANT work from some - Duke/Aston for instance. In fact, I was about to agree with DGrant (which is always a wise move) when I saw Zola and others mentioning Andie McDowell. Try as I may, I just can't think of anything she's done that's even remotely good.
