How can we have a worst movie ever discussion without acknowledging the wonder that is "Glitter" with Mariah Carey? So bad I loved every minute. Honorable mention goes to "Autumn in New York"...a disgrace.
"We are engaged in two wars, one on drugs and one on terror, that can never be won. I mean, one is a group of inanimate objects and the other is an emotion. We might as well fight a war on pasta, which I guess the Atkins people are actually doing."
I haven't seen many movies in the past 35 years, but I did see something on TV a while back that was so dreadful I couldn't pull away from it. It starred Lily Tomlin and John Travolta, who played a character named "Strip". There was a scene where Tomlin was talking to him on the phone and said, "Oh Strip, Strip, Strip" in such a deadpan manner that it was hysterically funny. It wasn't supposed to be!
There are worse movies than "Flowers in the Attic." Roller Boogie, Can't Stop the Music, Xanadu, Airport 79, Lost Horizon, Grease 2, From Justin To Kelly, The Pirate Movie, Zapped and Endless Love, just to name a few. Man, I've seen alot of bad movies!
nearly every movie made in the early to mid 90's the remake of Godzilla the Polar Express Pokemon 2 and also- i haven't seen flowers in the attic since i was a kid, but i loved it then! i thought it was so scary. i should totally read the book though. or apparently, the series?
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

Borstal, all of the girls were obsessed with VC Andrews in junior high (and, yes, at the time I also thought it was a work of genius)! The author also mentioned my other pre-teen favorite...Judy Blume's Forever. Who could forget Ralph the penis?
Dolly, that Lily Tomlin/John Travolta classic was called "Moment by Moment." Talk about your sexual chemistry! Tomlin's lover wrote & directed it. My favorite line was when Lily (As the older lonely woman) wanted Travolta (as the hot young stud) to undress and she said "Strip, Strip!"
I think Flowers in the Attic is one of the camp classics. It is an awful lot of fun to watch. I mean Louise Fletcher gets the Faye Dunaway award. "I will give you food and shelter, but never love." The movie is a guilty pleasure of mine and I always thought the guy who played Chris was HOT!!!
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello

That looks incest-free, PJ. I like my VC with fam-on-fam action.

Hee! Matt, Chris and Cathy weren't twins, though. The younger ones, Cory and Carrie, were. Carrie developed a giant head from lack of sunlight and being in the attic for too long!
Borstal - yep all the incest was cut when it was made into a movie.
The books are trashy, gothic melodrama, but like the Slate article points out, they are so infinitely readable. The best are the first two written, Flowers in the Attic and Petals on the Wind, and the final book in the series, the prequel Garden of Shadows.
When I was in 8th grade I decided I was going to write a musical version of Flowers in the Attic. It never went very far, alas..
I remember thinking that Victoria Tennant was the worst actress I'd ever seen.
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."
