Not really. It's actually grinding my gears. i just want to sleep, but i can't fall asleep.

Yeah, I feel your pain. Sometimes it is easy for me to fall asleep, but most of the time it's just a pain in the ass.

I'll join the group.
My advice: After you stay in bed for 30 minutes and you still are restless and can't go to sleep, GET UP! Read in the other room, watch a calm movie/tv show, go on BWW....Don't stay in bed! Then when you start to feel sleepy, go back to your bed.

Try thinking of everything that's happened all day. Tense up all your muscles for 20 seconds and keep thinking about your day. Begin to relax your muscles and as you do, each thought should "fly away" as each muscle relaxes. Then just pay attention to your breathing.
Are you breathing too deeply? To shallow? too fast? too slow? through your nose and out your mouth...


I take sleeping pills and I still am insomniac. Granted, they do work. Now I'm at least getting 3-4 hours of sleep (non-consecutively), as opposed to before I was on the sleeping meds and I nearly got no sleep!

I don't have insomnia, I'm a vampire. I'm on the boards all night because I work from 12:00 a.m. to 8 a.m., then sleep most of the day.

I'm here late because of my work schedule too. I work at bar, and get off work around 2:30 am. I'm so wound up that I can't fall right to sleep, so I hit the boards and catch up on what happened all day.

You're 100% right. Believe me- I only work 2 miles from my apartment, but it feels like 50 with the traffic for two exits on the BQE in the morning. I can take streets, but Metropolitan Ave. and Grand Ave. in Maspeth are just as bad with all the truck traffic.

I hate insomnia. Nothing's worked for me except going to bed earlier (by 11:30) and listening to whatever calming tracks I can download off iTunes. There are white noise and relaxation items on there--sometimes they help.
