I'm considering auditioning for You're a Good Man Charlie Brown in October, and the audition calls for 32 bars of a contemporary Broadway-style song. I'm auditioning for either Snoopy or Charlie Brown. Any ideas?

When I did charlie brown I sang "Dancing Through Life" singing the intro like 'Charlie Brown' and then I cut the second verse where you sing dancing through life and end on the high "G" and on tat part I sang it like 'Snoopy' -- I know that Wicked is way overdone, but it worked I got cast. You just got to bring it!!!
You could also sing "Purpose" from Ave Q

Purpose from Avenue Q yes..only if it's for school like you said take out the lights a fire under your ass part
I second Little Shop too....or something J. Pierpont Finch would sing in How to Succeed in Business Without REally Trying
Good luck!

Okay, thanks for all the suggestions, :) I appreciate it. By the way, this is for a community theatre production of it, not school. My next school thing is Guys and Dolls in the spring (I'm in college, remember that
for those who keep guessing my age) So far, I'm considering :
"Purpose" from Avenue Q - even though it's very recent and not a good thing to use something that's currently on Broadway, it's contemporary and fits the optimistic side of Charlie Brown.
I'm taking it just in case.
"We'll Have Tomorrow" - outtake from Little Shop of Horrors. Yes, LSOH is overdone, but I'm not sure if this one has been used as much as Suddenly Seymour, etc. Plus it shows a bit more of my voice and would be a good one if they considered me for Snoopy, since Suppertime (from YAGMCB, not LSOH) is a bit rangy. But that would be a good one to use, I think so at least.
and there was a song from Falsettos, perhaps maybe "Jason's Therapy" or something that I might use. I'm taking three in my folder, just to be careful , LOL. Any other suggestions would be nice, if anyone comes up with anything else.

Posted: 10/1/05 at 12:31amWould "How Lucky You Are" from Seussical be too cheesy? That'd be a good one to audition for Snoopy. But that's just me, since it's sung by the Cat in the Hat, LOL.

How about for a girl for the same audition?
I was thinking: "I Want it All" from Baby.

Posted: 10/6/05 at 5:42pmIt's a tad overdone for girls between the ages of 9-13, too young otherwise.
