Sorry, Melissa, for some reason, Finn's songs don't seem to be posted on the Internet as frequently as other theatrical numbers are... Maybe try something a little less esotoric?
My theatre related song would be..."You Can't Stop The Beat"
My non-theatre related song would be a song that Ernie once sang on Sesame Street called, "I Dont Want To Live On The Moon"
Leading Actor Joined: 7/7/04
I think my special song is "Always True to you(in my fashion)" from Kiss Me Kate. I just remember how it was in the show and how she did the number and it always makes me laugh.
"You Can't Stop The Beat" (from HAIRSPRAY):
TRACY
You cant stop an avalanche
As it races down the hill
You can try to stop the seasons, girl
But ya know you never will
And you can try to stop my dancin' feet
But i just cannot stand still
'Cause the world keeps spinning
'Round and 'round
And my heart's keeping time
To the speed of sound
I was lost til i heard the drums
Then i found my way
TRACY & LINK
'Cause you can't stop the beat
Ever since this old world began
A woman found out if she shook it
She could shake up a man
And so i'm gonna shake and shimmy it
The best that i can today
'Cause you cant stop
The motion of the ocean
Or the sun in the sky
You can wonder if you wanna
But i never ask why
And if you try to hold me down
I'm gonna spit in your eye and say
That you cant stop the beat!
(Penny appears onstage transformed into a hot teenage tigress.)
TRACY
What do ya' have to say, Penny?
PENNY
I am now a checkerboard chick!
You can't stop a river
As it rushes to the sea
You can try and stop the hands of time
But ya know it just can't be
And if they try to stop us, seaweed,
I'll call the n - double-a - ñ - p!
'Cause the world keeps spinning
'Round and 'round.
SEAWEED
'Round and 'round
PENNY
And my heart's keeping time
To the speed of sound
SEAWEED
Speed of sound
PENNY
I was lost till i heard the drums
Then i found my way
PENNY & SEAWEED
'Cause you can't stop the beat
PENNY & SEAWEED, TRACY & LINK
Ever since we first saw the light
A man and woman liked to shake it
On a saturday night
And so i'm gonna shake and shimmy it
With all my might today
'Cause you cant stop
The motion of the ocean
Or the rain from above
They can try to stop the paradise
We're dreaming of
But they cannot stop the rhythm
Of two hearts in love to stay
'Cause you cant stop the beat!
EDNA
Tracy, I have a little something
I'd like to add, if you don't mind.
You cant stop my happiness
'Cause i like the way i am
And you just can't stop my knife and fork
When i see a christmas ham
So if you don't like the way i look
Well, i |ust don't give a damn!
EDNA & ENSEMBLE
'Cause the world keeps spinning
'Round and 'round
And my heart's keeping time
To the speed of sound
I was lost til i heard the drums
Then i found my way
EDNA & WILBUR & COMPANY
'Cause you cant stop the beat
Ever since this old world began
A woman found out if she shook it
She could shake up a man
And so i'm gonna shake and shimmy it
The best that i can today
'Cause you cant stop
The motion of the ocean
Or the sun in the sky
You can wonder if you wanna
But i never ask why
And if you try to hold me down
I'm gonna spit in your eye and say
That you cant stop the beat!
EDNA
Wilbur, be a dear and get me my
oxygen... NOW!
MOTORMOUTH (to Velma)
Step aside, Miss Buttercup... it's
time to wrap this mutha' up!
Oh, oh, oh,
You can't stop today
ENSEMBLE
...No!
MOTORMOUTH
As it comes speeding down the track
ENSEMBLE
Oîí îîí îîí, child, yes
MOTORMOUTH
Child, yesterday is hist'ry
ENSEMBLE
Be gone!
MOTORMOUTH
And it's never coming back
ENSEMBLE
Look ahead
MOTORMOUTH & ENSEMBLE
'Cause tomorrow is a brand new day
MOTORMOUTH
And it don't know white from black
ENSEMBLE
Yeah!
MOTORMOUTH & ENSEMBLE
'Cause the world keeps spinning
'Round and 'round
And my heart's keeping time
To the speed of sound
I was lost til i heard the drums
Then i found my way
'Cause you cant stop the beat
ALL
Ever since we first saw the light
A man and woman liked to shake it

They can try to stop ths paradise
We're dreaming of

Were you able to find my 'Moon' song Mary_Ethel?
"Always True To You In My Fashion":
If a custom-tailored vet
Asks me out for something wet,
When the vet begins to pet, I cry "Hooray!"
But I'm always true to you, darlin', in my fashion,
Yes, I'm always true to you, darlin', in my way.
I enjoy a tender pass
By the boss of Boston, Mass.,
Though his pass is middle-class and notta Backa Bay.
But I'm always true to you, darlin', in my fashion,
Yes, I'm always true to you, darlin', in my way.
There's a madman known as Mack
Who is planing to attack,
If his mad attack means a Cadillac, okay!
But I'm always true to you, darlin', in my fashion,
Yes, I'm always true to you, darlin', in my way.
I've been asked to have a meal
By a big tycoon in steel,
If the meal includes a deal, accept I may.
But I'm always true to you, darlin', in my fashion,
Yes, I'm always true to you, darlin', in my way.
I could never curl my lip
To a dazzlin' diamond clip,
Though the clip meant "let 'er rip," I'd not say "Nay!"
But I'm always true to you, darlin', in my fashion,
Yes, I'm always true to you, darlin', in my way.
There's an oil man known as Tex
Who is keen to give me checks,
And his checks, I fear, mean that sex is here to stay!
But I'm always true to you, darlin', in my fashion,
Yes, I'm always true to you, darlin', in my way.
From Ohio Mister Thorne
Calls me up from night 'til morn,
Mister Thorne once cornered corn and that ain't hay.
Aha!
But I'm always true to you, darlin', in my fashion,
Yes, I'm always true to you, darlin', in my way.
From Milwaukee Mister Fritz
Often moves me to the Ritz,
Mister Fritz is full of Schlitz and full of play.
But I'm always true to you, darlin', in my fashion,
Yes, I'm always true to you, darlin', in my way.
Mister Harris, plutocrat,
Wants to give my cheek a pat,
If the Harris pat
Means a Paris hat,
Bebe, Oo-la-la!
Mais je suis toujour fidиle, darlin', in my fashion,
Oui, je suis toujour fidиle, darlin', in my way.
You bet, Princeton...
"I Don't Want To Live On The Moon":
Well, I'd like to visit the moon
On a rocket ship high in the air
Yes, I'd like to visit the moon
But I don't think I'd like to live there
Though I'd like to look down at the earth from above
I would miss all the places and people I love
So although I might like it for one afternoon
I don't want to live on the moon
I'd like to travel under the sea
I could meet all the fish everywhere
Yes, I'd travel under the sea
But I don't think I'd like to live there
I might stay for a day there if I had my wish
But there's not much to do when your friends are all fish
And an oyster and clam aren't real family
So I don't want to live in the sea
I'd like to visit the jungle, hear the lions roar
Go back in time and meet a dinosaur
There's so many strange places I'd like to be
But none of them permanently
So if I should visit the moon
Well, I'll dance on a moonbeam and then
I will make a wish on a star
And I'll wish I was home once again
Though I'd like to look down at the earth from above
I would miss all the places and people I love
So although I may go I'll be coming home soon
'Cause I don't want to live on the moon
No, I don't want to live on the moon
I have many. My new favorite is "It Sucks To Be Me"
I sing the Kate Monster part and i smile for the day.
"It Sucks To Be Me" (from AVENUE Q)
KATE MONSTER
Morning, Brian!
BRIAN
Hi, Kate Monster.
KATE MONSTER
How's life?
BRIAN
Disappointing!
KATE MONSTER
What's the matter?
BRIAN
The caterine company
laid me off.
KATE MONSTER
Oh, I'm sorry!
BRIAN
Me too! I mean, look at me!
I'm ten years out of college, and I
always thought -
KATE MONSTER
What?
BRIAN
No, it sounds stupid.
KATE MONSTER
Aww, come on!
BRIAN
When I was little
I thought I would be...
KATE MONSTER
What?
BRIAN
A big comedian
on late night TV
But now I'm thirty-two
And as you can see
I'm not
KATE MONSTER
Nope!
BRIAN
Oh Well,
It sucks to be me.
KATE MONSTER
Nooo.
BRIAN
It sucks to be me.
KATE MONSTER

BRIAN
It sucks to be broke
and unemployed
and turning thirty-three.
It sucks to be me.
KATE MONSTER
Oh, you think your life sucks?
BRIAN
I think so.
KATE MONSTER
Your problems aren't so bad!
I'm kinda pretty
And pretty damn smart.
BRIAN
You are.
KATE MONSTER
Thanks!
I like romantic things
Like music and art.
And as you know
I have a gigantic heart
So why don't I have
A boyfriend?
F*CK!
It sucks to be me!
BRIAN
Me too.
KATE MONSTER
It sucks to be me.
BRIAN
It sucks to be me.
It sucks to be Brian...
KATE MONSTER
And Kate...
BRIAN
To not have a job!
KATE MONSTER
To not have a date!
BOTH
It sucks to be me.
BRIAN
Hey, ROd, Nicky, can you
settle something for us?
Do you have a second?
ROD
Ah, certainly.
KATE MONSTER
Whose life sucks more?
Brian's or mine?
NICKY AND ROD
Ours!
ROD
We live together.
NICKY
We're as close
As people can get.
ROD
We've been the best

NICKY
Ever since the
Day we met.
ROD
So he knows lots
Of ways to make me
Really upset.
Oh, every day is
An aggravation.
NICKY
Come on, that's
an exaggeration!
ROD
You leave your
clothes out.
You put your feet
On my chair.
NICKY
Oh yeah?
You do such anal
Things like ironing
Your underwear.
ROD
You make that very
Small apartment
We share a hell.
NICKY
So do you,
That's why I'm in hell too!
ROD
It sucks to be me!
NICKY
No, it sucks to be me!
KATE MONSTER
It sucks to be me!
BRIAN
It sucks to be me!

KATE MONSTER
You win!
ALL

BRIAN

"What you talkin' 'bout, Willis?"
It gets old.
ALL
It sucks to be you

"Uptown Girl":
She's been living in her uptown world
I bet she never had a back street guy
I bet her mama never told her why
I'm gonna try for an uptown girl
She's been living in her white bread world
As long as anyone with hot blood can
And now she's looking for a downtown man
That's what I am
And when she knows what
She wants from her time
And when she wakes up
And makes up her mind
She'll see I'm not so tough
Just because
I'm in love with an uptown girl
You know I've seen her in her uptown world
She's getting tired of her high class toys
And all her presents from her uptown boys
She's got a choice
Uptown girl
You know I can't afford to buy her pearls
But maybe someday when my ship comes in
She'll understand what kind of guy I've been
And then I'll win
And when she's walking
She's looking so fine
And when she's talking
She'll say that she's mine
She'll say I'm not so tough
Just because
I'm in love
With and uptown girl
She's been living in her white bread world
As long as anyone with hot blood can
And now she's looking for a downtown man
That's what I am
Uptown girl
She's my uptown girl
You know I'm in love
With an uptown girl
My uptown girl
You know I'm in love
With an uptown girl
My uptown girl
You know I'm in love
With an uptown girl
My uptown girl

Okay, Mary Ethel. A non-Finn tune: "Private Conversation" from SIDE SHOW.
We struck Gold, melissa!
"Private Conversation":
An obvious connection
I tried so hard to hide
Couldn't even say it to myself
An obvious connection
I tried to push aside
Into a corner on the darkest shelf
We'll never be alone
And my feelings can't be shown
So I try to imagine and replay
All the things I'll never get to say
You're wrapped up with another
Tangled and entwined
I invent a separation
In the private conversation in my mind
I resolve to say it all
Then I hem and haw and stall
For how could I come clean or confide
Someone else is always at your side
I want
I want
I want to tell you
I want
I want
To get you alone
I need
I need
I need to tell you
I want you for my own
If we could steal a moment
Would you be so inclined
To accept an invitation
To the private conversation in my mind
Terry imagines Daisy walking towards him, without Violet...
Daisy:
What do you want to say to me, Terry?
Tell me, this is your chance
What do you need to say to me, Terry?
Does is concern romance?
Here I am
All alone
Yours to take
Smooth me out
Calm me down
Stop the ache
Don't hold back
Don't hold off
Hold me tight
Don't object
Let's connect
Let's unite
Terry:
But you can't lose your shadow
That tie you can't unbind
Daisy:
You've made us all alone now
Terry:
All alone, but only in my mind
Daisy:
A mind is very private
We often meet in mind
Let me show you what we do there
The way we kiss
The way we intertwine
I want
I want
I want to show you
Terry:
Show me what?
Daisy:
I want to show you desite
The heat
The flames
Terry:
I'm burning for you
Daisy:
I know you are on fire
Why not be bold?
I'm crazy about you
I say it with every glance
My arms are cold and lazy without you
Come on, why don't we dance?
They dance...
Terry:
I want
I want
I want to keep you
Daisy:
Keep me where?
Terry:
I want you all for my own
My own
My own
Daisy:
You have to share me
Terry:
Oh no, I want you alone
Daisy goes back with Violet...
Terry:
I imagine us so well
How you'd dance and taste and smell
I can imagine me with you
But I don't have the guts to follow through
You're one half of a couple
That's how you are defined
And my only consolation
Is the private conversation in my mind

We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams...
I don't know about cheering- up songs. But I know, recently I find my personal theme song goes from Portrait of a Girl (Bare) to Losing Track of Time (Summer of '42) to Meadowlark (The Baker's Wife) to I Have Found (The Royal Family of Broadway) to Fatherhood Blues (Baby). At least recently.
YAY, MARY ETHEL, YAY!
I don't mean to be greedy, but could you possibly take another request from me? "Just Like You" from john and jen,please...
Thank you, Jose'.
I always find it an honor to be educated and guided by your infinite resources.
I will abstain from posting any song lyrics in the future.
Have a pleasant day,

The key phrase in Craig's earlier post was "entire song lyrics."
Make of it what you will, and do whatever you believe is appropriate.
Gladys is at it again. She never rests.

OMG! I love "I Don't Want To Live On The Moon" I just sat here and sang it to myself... fine- call me a geek.
Sadly enough, I have made a CD of Sesame Street songs as well as Raffi songs. I used to work in a day care and Raffi songs or Sesame St songs were always playing. I love that place cause the kids were soo happy to see me. It made me feel loved. So, whenever I feel lonely or sad- I often to put on that CD...I know it's a bit corny but then again...Corny is a part of me
Anyone hear the song "Bananaphone" from Raffi? That song is like my favorite!!!
Also, I get in weird moods where I need to hear a song...like the other day it was "The Glory of Love" by Peter Cetera and today it was "Workin' at the Car Wash"
And without doubt, all the Avenue Q songs are Special
"Just Like You" from JON AND JEN.
YOU SHOULD SEE THIS KID
IT'S FRIGHTENING
THE WAY HE REMINDS ME
OF SOMEONE I ONCE KNEW
HOW HE LOVES BASEBALL
AND HATES TOMATOES
THE WAY HE SLEEPS WITH HIS ARM
TUCKED UNDER HIS NECK
IT'S SO TRUE
HE SLEEPS JUST LIKE YOU
YOU'RE COMPLETELY IN THE SHADE NOW
IT'S AMAZING
THE WAY THIS TREE GREW
THINGS GET SO BIG
TIME FLIES AWAY
HEY -- HAPPY THIRTY-TWO
I BROUGHT YOU A PRESENT
[SHE takes out a picture of her son]
HE LOOKS JUST LIKE YOU
TOMORROW HE'S GOING TO CAMP
AND I CAN'T DEAL WITH IT
I'VE BARELY EVER LET HIM OUT OF MY SIGHT
I KNOW THAT IT'S JUST THE START
NOW THAT HE'S GROWING UP,
LEAVING HOME,
TAKING FLIGHT
YOU SHOULD SEE THIS KID
YOUR NAMESAKE
I WONDER BACK WHEN I DID THAT
IF I KNEW
THAT EVERY TIME I CALL OUT HIS NAME
I'D BE THERE AGAIN PUSHING YOU AWAY
AND THAT SH*TTY GOODBYE AND THAT TERRIBLE DAY
AND ALL THAT I KNOW IS I WON'T FAIL MY SON
THE SAME WAY I FAILED YOU
(YOU) SHOULD SEE THIS KID
I WISH YOU COULD SEE THIS KID
BUT THAT'S JUST LIKE YOU
YOU ALWAYS TALKED BACK
YOU ALWAYS FOUGHT BACK
YOU'RE NOT COMING BACK
BUT I WON'T LET MY BABY
LEAVE ME TOO
NO, I WON'T LET HIM
BE JUST LIKE YOU.
NOT LIKE YOU.

Bananaphone, ring ring ring It’s a phone with a peal
Bananaphone, ring ring ring Now you can have your phone and eat it too
Bananaphone, ring ring ring this song drives me, bananas
Bananaphone, ring ring ring…..
