As a amateur biblical scholar who would like to study even more extensively, I would like to point out that Romans 1:26-27 isn't talking about homosexual people. It's referring to heterosexual people in Rome. It states that women exchanged their natural sexual relations for (what at the time, according to Christian beliefs were) unnatural ones. This doesn't say anything about them turning to other women. They could have been practicing oral or anal sex or ass play or golden showers, for all we know. It then says that men abandoned their natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. It says nothing of men who had natural desire for other men. It refers to heterosexual men who just decided any warm hole would do and this often meant the rape of young temple slaves.

These were a people who did not believe in God and any actions they did were going to be used as evidence that they were going to suffer eternal damnation. I am not sure how any Christian can take Paul's, the author of this book and the missionary sent there to convert people, testimony as fact.

People justifying their hate towards gays using the bible is the weakest argument out there.This is one of my favorite hypocritical bible verses to date. Only a closeted gay man would tattoo this scripture on his arm so he reads it every day. I mean, seriously. Who else would tattoo such a verse on their arm?






Now, the bible thumpers with tatoos will dismiss this and tell you that this is the Old Testament, as if that does not count. Why didn't Jesus say ANYTHING about homosexuality? Why isn't homosexuality one of the Ten Commandments? (Like adultery is?)The bible says it is okay to own slaves and stone your neighbor to death if they work on the sabbath. Eating shellfish and touching the skin of a dead pig are all abominations. Why are these laws of the bibles ignored? I WISH SOME GOOD CHRISTIAN COULD EXPLAIN THIS TO ME.Could anyone at this church explain this?

Yes, I realize that, but there are no lyrics in that song that say "get them while they're young". Whereas that is almost a direct quote from the Evita lyric.

Christians cannot explain the inconsistencies as they cherry-pick verses from LEVITICUS and DEUTERONOMY.

That's why they've changed their focus to ROMANS. But as JerseyGirl very smartly points out, that passage is entirely ambiguous and, really, not much help.

Let's face it: anyone so stupid as to think he can take a translation literally is probably incapable of logical thought.

The best argument to ANYONE who has a friend of family member who uses the bible to justify homophobia, I STRONGLY Recommend this film THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO. It was on Netflix and sometimes even on Youtube. It knocks down every argument the so called 'Christians' make.

The irony! They preach about hate and death to gays and then are shocked when they get negative comments and criticisms and are accused of being homophobic or un-Christ like. They can dish it out but damn, don't you dare call them out on it.
