Hi everyone-I HATE flying because I had a few really bad near death experiences in the air. Mark tonight as another-the plane couldn't land in LGA because the flaps didn't come down so we had to head for JFK where the runways are longer. We circled for about an hour and finally landed safely-but it was hard not to notice all the fire engines and police cars waiting for us!
I missed this place and will have to check out what's been going on here. xoxox
Hey Jane! Welcome back. Glad you're ok. I'm making a mental note never to get on a plane with you.
Haha, good idea! I'm actually thinking of switching airlines since it all happened on Delta.
Welcome home.
I am glad you made it back safe and sound.
You were missed, along with all of your flowers!
Whoa! That's nasty! I had something similar happen YEARS ago and you just brought it all back. I'm sorry about the conditions of the return but I'm glad to hear your back safe and sound!
thanks Mamie and YWIW, I'm just glad to be back on line here, and I must switch my flower av to something florida as soon as I can.
welcome back Jane.....
try flying from Toronto to Windsor, in a blinding snowstorm, last flight out, small plane bouncing all over, while a very hunky marine next to you has his head in a bag the entire trip.....puking.
And then once you land, the snow is so bad, it takes your ride 2.5 hours to get from Metro detroit to Windsor Airport......
I think I'll take yours......
glad you're home.
uuuuh CONTINENTAL is the airline of champioooons. duuuh.
Elph-here's the one that happened to me before this one-I'm flying from W. Palm to NY and we hit a noreaster. We were tossed around and bounced around in the sky above NY for over three hours. People screamed, barf bags were passed out, and everyone called their loved ones to say goodbye, including me. Twice the plane started to land. We were so close to the runway that we saw the ground. both times the plane went right back up into the storm. The turbulence was so bad I wouldn't call it turbulence. Finally we ran out of fuel and had to land in Pa. I got off the plane, not caring where I was. the plane then went right up back into the storm. I was the only person at the airport. I took a cab to the nearest train station. It was now 12 midnight. When I got to the train station, I found it was closed until 5 am. I had to sit on a waiting room bench for 5 hours. I couldn't try to nap because the only other people there were some nasty looking derelicts. At 5 I took Amtrak to NY. I then had to go back out to the NY airport to try and find my luggage. I finally got home and slept it off.
I'll take yours.

Welcome home, Jane2. Glad you're back safe and sound. I'm not fond of flying either, and had a hard landing on Continental one time where we bounced on landing. It was raining, midnight, and the flight was already three hours late. Ah well..
Hi Grizz-yeah, I hear ya. I don't mind dying in a plane as long as it could be instantaneous like blowing up or something. But that panic you have to feel for hours on end, expecting the worst to happen is just unbearable!
It's still safer than getting into a car. And around here, it's the worst. I have never known such consistently hostile and aggressive drivers as those in the DC area.
Hi, Grizz!!!! We all wish you were coming to New York this weekend, too.

There's nothing worse than driving in S. Florida.
Young college students mixed with the older generation does not equal safe roads.
I live 2 minutes away from my college and at least once every 2 weeks I see an accident on the way or way home from class.
hehe Jane, yes that sounds worse........
there is just something SO wrong with an airplane that smiles.....

and wears shades so you can't its eyes!
It wears shades because it's cool. Oy. right now I see no humor in planes. Miss P, I'd rather be on the ground when I travel, even though it's not as safe. I think because if the plane crashes, you're dead. If a car crashes, you can live. OK, this is no subject to be discussing right before you have to travel!
worse yet penny, PSA's colors used to be red, orange and pink....UGH

Well, Miss P, if you wouldn't drive so damn slow I wouldn't have to run you off the road so often. That ditch wasn't too deep, was it?
Jane - I totally agree about flying. All you need is a few close ones (or ones that FEEL close) under your belt to sour you for a long time. I once went 11 years without flying after a plane I was in hit a wind shear taking off from New Orleans.
Red, orange and pink...some of the colors one would see in a horrible car accident in which your body gets all mangled, JANE!!!!
In this case, I believe the statistics. Pilots are trained professionals, at least. When you drive, you don't know who you're up against.
I have lost friends and family members in car accidents, but have never known anyone personally who dies in a plane crash.
Look, I'm going to be this way until August 11...the day we fly back from Europe!
yup, air travel is MUCH safer......Penny, where are you going in Europe? Are you there in July, if so where? We'll be there then, mainly Eastern Europe
Jane2, Glad you're home. Your presence was missed around here.
welcome home! i'm glad you're ok... i'd be scared stiff
Dottie, that is so nice of you to say! Has it been THAT boring around here? No meltdowns? No rude comments? aha-that's why I was missed! After trying to be nice around my mother's livein boyfriend, I'm ready to be rude again!
Actually, now that you mention it, Jane...it's been rather mellow since you've been gone. What does THAT tell us, hmmmm?
Moonie, I wouldn't talk about MY driving if I were you...YOU'RE the one who lives at Leisure World!!!
I'll try to be rude soon, Miss P. Actually, I was really rude to my mother's bf. I should be ashamed!
