So I was at Barnes and Noble the other day and got this really cool calendar that teaches me a Yiddish word of the day.

mama: (mah-meh); mother, mommy

Just a fun little anecdote...when my (Jewish) father married my (not Jewish) stepmother, my great grandmother called her a money-grubbing goy. She was soon promoted to shiksah...so sometimes it's not a bad thing, but an aspiration.

The word is schmendrick. Or I just substitute my brother's name. We called him that as a child.
