You have the chance...

...to meet someone with whom you can have the most satisfying love imaginable - the stuff of dreams. Sadly, you know that in six months the person will die. Knowing the pain that would follow, would you still want to meet the person and fall in love?

re: You have the chance...

They say it's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all, but I do wonder about it. I don't know if I could handle that kind of baggage for the rest of my life, and I'd feel like something was missing. But then again, it would probably be like that without the person too. I would probably not meet them. I don't think I could take the fall, but if I didn't I would go through life very, very lonely. If I did, I would at least have memories...

Wow. Too much studying makes you ramble. Sorry 'bout that, I really don't know. I guess I would. I want to be a writer, and to write you need to know human emotion as well as you can, and love is a pretty big one. But that's an ulterior motive. Maybe I wouldn't.

Who knows? Good question, though.

of course -- life's greatest gift is love -- even through the pain of losing a lover/partener/spouse (trust me, I've been there), the joy of the love you shared overcomes grief!

re: You have the chance...

Ive been in a similar situation to this before....I lost my fiance in 2001 to a car accident a short time before our wedding day. I think I can honestly say if someone had warned me she'd die, I would have loved her anyway.

"If I didn't believe in you
then here's where the travelogue ends.
If I didn't believe in you
I couldn't have stood before all of our friends
And said, "this is the life I choose -
This is the thing I can't bear to lose.
Trip us or trap us
but we refuse to fall."
That's what I thought we agreed on Cathy.
If I hadn't believed in you,
I wouldn't have loved you at all."

Without doubt - it is the reason and the point.

Guido - your loss is extraordinary, but you felt the best there is - may what you shared nurture you through the rest of your days.

If it is possible to live and love the memories and not be bitter and depressed, I would. I'm so sorry to hear about your fiance, Guido. I hope you are alright now.

re: You have the chance...

yeah Daisy, i'm on a crash-course trying to find someone who can even come remotely close to the happiness we had. I don't expect it, but if someone comes along I can care for like that...I sure will try.

You'll never have what you had before, Guido. Which is not to say you can't love as deeply and intensely. You will - but never compare. The next lucky woman will be a completely different experience. Open yourself up...

I don't really want one to compare...i think you know what I'm actually getting at. It's hard to put to words though.
