Just saw this film last night. Not only was it hysterical, but it was also deeply emotional, as well.
Probably my favorite film I've seen so far in 2008. Anyone else see this one?
Somehow I get the feeling you aren't talking about the Paulette Goddard/Douglas Fairbanks/Janet Gaynor movie from 1938?
YOUNG AT HEART is a new documentary playing on only a few screens. It is funny, touching, heartbreaking, and ultimately inspirational.
If you do not shed at least one tear during this film. . .
Best moments:
1. Playing at the prison and ending with "Forever Young"
2. Any version of Coldplay's "Fix You"
3. Two mismatched people [one looks like Lena Horne and the other like Austin Pendleton] demolishing "I Feel Good"
Fans of Coldplay should email their web site and tell them that an old man on oxygen is giving the performance of his life singing their hymn to survival.
I can't wait to see this movie. The previews look wonderful.
bring kleenex
I love any documentary, so I'll be looking this one up!

I laughed far too loud and cried embarassingly and equally loud.
Coldplay fans should tell Chris Martin about this and get him to do the song as a duet with the old man if he is still alive and can sing. It is SO moving to see.

According to the official website for the film, Fred Knittle is still alive. He suffered a heart attack after the movie was filmed, but still sings with the chorus at special events.
a nice, witty man with a really good voice. let's hope chris martin pays him some props.
I was thinking of the Doris Day/Frank Sinatra movie. I love that one! With Ethel Barrymore, Alan Hale, Jr., Gig Young and Dorothy Malone too!
Nice songs.
This new one is called "Young@Heart" right?
