Because the woman can do no wrong....

My favorites are PLAYING FOR TIME and her incredibly ballsy performance in THE DEVILS.

She was also wonderfully kittenish on NIP/TUCK.

Playing for Time, Orpheus Desending, Julia, Second Serve, omg...too many.

I remember Melanie Mayron being great in that as well as Vanessa and Jane, who both won Emmys...I want to see that again!

I did shows with Melanie Mayron, when we were kids. My favorite Vanessa Redgrave performance is in JULIA.

Mayron's perf. gave me chills...she was the bratty one who gave up her virtue for favors from the Nazis...but was just a girl.

In Second Serve, the detail of her pain during the aftermath of the surgery was intense, in my memory.

Melanie is an excellent actress. She was superb at comedy, and was offered her own sitcom, POTSIE, RALPH AND MAXINE, by ABC and Gary Marshall, a spin-off of HAPPY DAYS, but she turned them down. ABC would only accept her in the role of Maxine, so the HAPPY DAYS' episode was never filmed. We were all shocked. One of the funniest episodes of RHODA, features her as Brenda's co-worker.

Baby Jane was not worth seeing. Well, it wasn't worth making, at least.

Film: Nina in The Seagull (1968 directed by Lumet) -- her mad scene at the end is one of the most raw, intense and devastating scenes ever captured on film. It was amazing even for her.

Stage: SO many, but her Cleopatra at the Public (I loved it even though the critics didn't), Orpheus Descending and her Mary Tyrone particularly standout in my mind.

Not my favorite, but I love her performance in "Cradle Will Rock." She's just a delight.
