George C. Scott and Alastair Sim
There's also an early talkie, with actors who seem to have played it when Dickens when still alive. It's very hammy but fascinating.

Nobody here remembers the Bill Murray movie..."Scrooged"?
I am shocked. That movie is hysterical.

Justme - Undiscovered mentioned it earlier - and it's one of my favorites.

I went back through the thread again and did indeed see the mention the second time around. Thank God! That movie is one of my favorite renditions of the story.
I will be watching the Alistar Sim version on Christmas Eve, though. PalJoey, who is the cast of the early talkie version of the story? I'm searching my archives for it and don't see it. This is something I'd like to see.

Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. You can never be introduced to Jule Styne at too young an age.
Rest in peace, Iflitifloat.

Scrooged is an awsome modern retelling of the classic story.
Bill Murray uttering the phrase "Holy sh*t what a break!" gets me every time.

"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen."

I'm not sure this will work, but this is Julie Andrews and the singers from THE JULIE ANDREWS HOUR in 1972 (which is why the quality is not so good), singing A CHRISTMAS CAROL, from the film SCROOGE, from which comes my signature!
