this orange stripe is always on my monitor now. It doesn't appear on anything I print, though.

I had this type of stripe once too, jane. I think it's just something wrong with the monitor, not the web pages. have no idea how to fix it though. good luck.

Thanks Tiny. It could also be an indication the computer is slowly dying, as it's around 4 or five years old. Time for a new one, oy.

Dead pixels, more than likely.

hmm, interesting. Sounds like a probability. I can't get help from apple tech because it's out of warranty.

Yes, it's dead pixels on your screen. It shouldn't affect the computer or print outs in any way. So, of you can love with it, it shouldn't be a problem

I see, thanks Diva. Once I saw that it didn't affect anything I printed, I decided I'd just live with it, although it's annoying. As long as it's not an indication of trouble, I'm fine with it!

Well, it may be that, as you said, your computer is giving up the ghost.

actually Apple can help...make an appt with the Genius Bar people and take it in. Anyone can do that, warranty or not. At least they tell you what and why it is

I have seen people bring their desktops into the store. They look crazy, but it's fine.

Oh, I'm sure. But I'm not up to trying to schlep that thing. I don't know how I'd get it over there.
