re: anyone sick of parents?

Why does this sound familiar... oh that's right... the arguement between Elliot and Maureen on Law and Order last night... I'm surprised I didn't catch that sooner.

Maureen? What? Which one's Maureen?

Okay... yes, parenting should stop when the child is able to fully make his own decisions.

Mother-henning should be outlawed.

Oh... I haven't watched SVU in a while. How's Elliot and the whole children/wife plot line going on? (Obviously not good if that's the topic of the episode)

re: anyone sick of parents?

I don't know, Namo, maybe pre-law was back in the olden days when we attended our universities.

And I don't believe parenting ever stops. Even when you reach the point of role reversal and the child does the parenting for the elder.
Rest in peace, Iflitifloat.

Guess what Plum? The Marcy Park reference was for Lindy.

But since I am your own personal straw person (please can your sexist lingo, thanking you in advance), feel free to make a dig at me based on your not understanding a reference. Your condescension is tres revealing, coming from such an objective "on the other hand" kind of a person as yourself.

re: anyone sick of parents?

It stops when the only surviving parent decides that his faggot child isn't good enough. (Thanks, dad.)

re: anyone sick of parents?

This is NOT the place to complain, Lindy2. This is probably rude, but really. People here are not your therapists, and unless you start paying us, we will not listen to you whine.

"Expressing your opinion". You may have done this in a very bratty way. It wouldn't be hard to believe. Regardless, you need to figure out that you can't pick and win every battle in your life. It was one little thing, you might as well go along with it. Don't make a fuss over something that small when the risks are things like your phone and car.

Posts like this- 'OMG, I caan't stand themmmm, I dont need my parents at all' make all of the teenage residents of this board look bad. We can do it on our own, thanks. No help necessary.

I know who Marcy Park is. I don't know who Miss Grundy is. And that wasn't a dig at you; I'm sorry if it seemed that way. I barely watch TV or listen to the radio anymore, and I wasn't born in this country, so a lot of pop culture references fly over my head. Okay? If anything, it was a slight dig at myself.

This link below? It's a beautiful thing. In this miraculous place, it's considered standard behavior to air your personal grievances every day. Heaven knows plenty of people here can use one. And it's free! What's not to love?

If you don't like that particular site, I can recommend at least 4 others with a similar purpose off the top of my head.

re: anyone sick of parents?

Lindy, I would recommend putting together a band like me and my friends. We're emo, and that means we tell it like it is re: our feelings and insights and our hearts and stuff. And our pain, which especially when you are an overachiever like me and you with our striaght A's, can be shrouded by our academic success and the envy of those around us but if you cut us we bleed, right? So, maybe you can be a singer/lyricist?

And GreatestJournal, and DeadJournal, and Blogger...the list goes on and on. Like I said, I can think of a bunch more off the top of my head. :)

re: anyone sick of parents?

Lindy,

I have a friend whose father passed away last week after a long illness. I'll bet he would give anything to have him back. Anything.

Count your blessings. Parents who care about you are a gift.

If the blog websites were directed at me, which I think they were, I just want to let you know that I have one.

However, if I did not post here, I would not get to enjoy the wisdom of you folks that I have never met.

Lindy

Hang in there, I know you are frustrated, and even though it is not ok it is. There are worse things. My parenting stopped yrs ago, now my kids ask advise about their kids.

Once I asked my son if I were a good Dad, he said I would of never wanted another one, to this day I tear up when I think of that precious moment.

re: anyone sick of parents?

Can't relate to parental concerns. Never had an issue with them, and count them among my best friends. Always have.

re: anyone sick of parents?

Funny... I moved to another country to get away from family. When that wasn't far enough, I moved as far away as I could. Now, 17 years after I left, I'm trying to move closer to home. The thought of being so far away from not just my parents, but my entire family, is just not fun anymore. Especially 'cause my parents are older. You just never know.

re: anyone sick of parents?

I can relate to being far away. But I left England to get away from England, not because I hated my parents. I miss my parents and siblings, more than I ever imagined. And, you know, I sort of miss England, too. Your home is always your home.

It was a combo of family and country... and yep, eventually my plans include moving back home.

re: anyone sick of parents?

Lindy, I'm 4 years younger than you. When I get sick of my parents, I sleep. And when I wake up I hug them. I guess I shouldnt realy be saying anything because I'm not even close to your age but there it is. Did you try sleeping on it?

p.s. my mom moved awat from France to be rid of her family....she misses France a whole bundle, you can tell because she's always comparing American and France..and france just keeps on winning
