so, i'm heading down to NYC soon...and i'm currently in a state of unhappiness with my hair. my friend who lives near the aveda institute clinic in soho said i should just get my hair cut there, it'll be cheap and aveda stuff smells yummy.
so, any take on this? for anyone who's gone, how long in advance do you have to book and how have the results turned out? i'm SO curious!!

Posted: 4/18/05 at 11:14pmIt's probably just my oddly sensitive hair, but Aveda products always tend to leave residue and makes it oily. Except for Styling Curessense. That stuff is the best for detangling.

Yeah! Go for it! I had it done last year (I won't let them touch my color with a ten foot pole, however).
It was great fun, having 2 people blowdry my hair (too much for one woman, it was great).

Posted: 4/19/05 at 12:43pmI've gotten my hair cut at the one in Morningside. I'm pretty picky when it comes to my hair, but I was very happy with it.

Posted: 4/19/05 at 2:31pmTwo people blow dry your hair? I need to go there! It takes one person 45+ minutes blow my hair out, so 2 people would be a godsend.

well, back in VT with a new haircut and a new love for norbert leo butz....i must say that getting my hair cut @ aveda was really nice!!
except when i got there, the fire alarm went off and we all had to go out onto the street for a few minutes and i was really confused...
but the girl who cut my hair was really nice and did a GREAT job!! the only downside is that if you want to go get a cut/blowdry/style there, it takes AN HOUR AND A HALF!!!!! yeah, you better not have any plans for a while b/c it really does take a long time.
but overall i would DEFINITELY recommend it!! :)

no prob guys!!!
and don't worry about getting a crappy cut, b/c #1 - they're aveda students...they have to be pretty good!! and #2 - they have to check with a supervisor before they cut your hair and after they do it to see if it's up to aveda standards. so don't freak about getting uneven bangs or anything; the supervisor WILL fix them if there's something wrong!! (but there was nothing wrong with mine...the supervisor came over and was just like "yup, that's perfect. blowdry and style!")
#18re: aveda??
Posted: 4/22/05 at 3:23pmand you get to choose the style? not like a hair show? WHRE HAS THIS PLACE BEEN ALL OF MY LIFE!!!??!?!?!!
#19re: aveda??
Posted: 4/22/05 at 9:44pmI get my hair cut at an Aveda salon. They're great. They give the best scalp massage before they cut my hair - it's the best.

yeah, you totally get to choose the style!! i mean, they have to get practice doing what the client tells them to, and not just waht they want, right?? and yes, the scalp massage is particularly fabulous. AND! if you want they'll touch up your makeup with aveda (aka AWESOME) stuff afterwards, but i didn't have time...and plus i was just headed into the car for a 5 hour ride home hahaha!
andiv check your pms, i answered yours.
