Revolting.
Although I am not religious, I have no problem with politicians discussing their faith. Diversity of faith is an important part of America, and as long as the government stays away from promoting one religion over another, it can and should be discussed.

His faith is his problem. He needs to keep it to himself. I wouldn't have a problem with religious folks if they didn't keep depriving me of my human rights because of a couple of sentences in that storybook they think they believe in.
I'm all for politicians discussing their faith (or lack thereof), because it's an important part of who they are, and trying to understand how or if their faith impacts their decisions can be critical. I see no evidence of Obama using the Bible to justify anything he's done.

Obama is far too clever to do anything as overt as quoting the Bible to justify his oft-stated discrimination against gays.
don't kid yourself, roscoe. the only thing he believes in is him. if he thought that supporting gay marriage and overturning dodt would help him gain more power or further consolidate that available to him in the white house with his 22 czars, it would happen tomorrow. he doesn't believe in god anymore than you believe the possibility of dick cheney telling the truth. but he knows that the goddies have more power and money and organization than the non-goddies, so he has to court them. kinda like how he courted the gays when he needed their support.

Sincere belief in God and being a duplicitous scumbag have never been mutually exclusive.

Except for the moment he claimed 'you can't take God out of the mix'. That might not be a bible quote, but it makes it pretty clear what is influencing the ideology - which unnerves me completely.
The only reason I don't have a problem with religion being referenced is to know where they're coming from - and it upsets me every time.
Wait, I thought Obama was Muslim.
no, but i don't believe a single word hat comes out of his mouth starting with "uh". why should i believe his faith is any more real that the promises he made?

Papa, point taken about believing that Obama's faith is any more sincere than the promises he made. But he's doing better about keeping up the pretense of having that "faith" thing than he is in keeping the pretense of showing any interest at all in having any intention of thinking about delivering on his campaign promises.
roscoe, he has to continue to reference that or he chances them looking too closely at what he is doing. as long as he can be shown to be demonstrably christian, he holds that segment of the demographic - which you have to admit is a bit larger and more influential than the gay or the atheist market. if he stops paying them lip service the rumors start. besides, them folks have money to spend and he must a'court them. what are the gays and the atheists gonna do? contribute to the gop or sit on their checkbooks while the gop returns to power? please. throw a lfew pretty lies your way around election time and you're sold. y'all are a given. and a bit of a handicap sometimes. so just enjoy that seat at the back of the bus and imagine what "someday" will be like.

Genius! That's even better than Rachel Maddow's new nickname for him, which I have since adopted: President Fierce Advocate.
With sarcasm turned up to 11. That's one sarcasticer.
Oh how I love a good Spinal Tap reference, Namo.
