okay, so my school did Beauty and the Beast, and I was props manager! *hooray* well we get to closing night and my school gives the heads, directors, all those people stuff as thanks. well i go out with stage crew because i helped them out *we were short staffed* and they acknowledged everybody, but not me. in the back they all thanked the personal assitants *the beast and belle had huge costumes!* but the only time i got thanked was by our director.
everyone else got a card, present, and flowers. when i talked to the people in charge the next day, they didn't have a reason, except that costumes head was a senior and i didn't get apologized to except by the same director who thanked me in the first place.
Talk about shafted by upperclassmen. and other upperclassmen, this is not an insult to you, just those who mistreat underclassmen.
As unfair as this seems, maybe you shouldn't complain about not getting flowers and a gift and just accept it and go for a bigger position next time.
it happens, just smile and go on with it, one day for whatever reason people will thank you and give you flowers or whatnot, just got to keep working your hardest
THis year we have a new teacher, and now our stage managers/running crew don't get bows or acknowldgement at the end of the shows, its horrible, its ying yang, actors need techies and techies need actors, they are all equal in each production

Happens all of the time...even in the professional world. It stinks, but sadly happens.
Honestly I don't think it's because you are an underclassmen. Tech and stage crew NEVER get the credit they deserve- and this is coming from someone who is strictly an actress. Sorrybut that's the way it is :)

i suppose, but our stage manager is underclassman. so was our personal assistant. and my school is really good about recognizing techies. we get our own bow and everything. normally...

Now that is something a don't agree with...a stgae crew bow.

i don't care about the bow. my irritation is no equality. if you're going to acknowledge techies, acknowledge them fully.

That sucks, Wardrobe. Like others have said, it does happen no matter how unfair it may seem.
The last time I helped out behind the scenes in a play, I was lucky enough to get recognition. I helped direct, and even though I didn't do a lot I was still recognized by the director and most of the cast.

that's cool. what was the show? well i was there more than any other crew lead, even the stage managers, and so that's really why i'm pissed it's because i put a lot of time into and still didn't get thanked, but whatever... so i guess this is the end of my rant overall, so im here for everyone since you all were here for me. thank you.
